I might be getting a Colt Anaconda. It's a 1993 model with the 8-3/8" barrel. Now I used to have one I bought new in 1998 and it was the same except it had round ports on the barrel and supposedly had a tuned trigger. I still kick myself for selling that gun, but I had to raise cash to pay for emergency home repairs. I vowed to get another Anaconda someday and now is my chance! I just wonder if it is less of a gun than the one I had? Also, what options are there for adding a tuned trigger and porting if I so desired?

Here is a pic of the Anaconda shown with a Ruger Redhawk and a Glock 17 that I may be purchasing also.

That's a beauty - far as I know, they're great guns - though I wouldn't pocket-carry one.

She was made in 1993 as per Colt and only has 2 shots fired from her. The seller told me that the first shot was to see if he liked the .44mag's recoil, the second was to make sure that he didn't! He put it in the safe and hasn't touched it until now!

As always, it depends on the price. The Anaconda is a fine revolver. Sounds like you found a good one. This happens so often with the big bore revovlers, shot a couple of times and put away to gather dust.

Rocketfoot: "The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned." You're govenor questions it all the time. He just wants you to register them......, pay an annual fee, and restrict the purchase. That guy has got to go!

I like the .44 Anaconda. Mine is a 6" and it is a plenty heavy gun. It is probably the easiest-kicking .44 mag I've ever shot.

8 3/8" barrel Anacondas are scarce. Buy it if the price is right. You may also consider a bipod or training wheels for that barrel . . . . :D

I have a pair of the .45 models. There were no changes during the run of these revolvers other than the various finishes and some limited porting. For a tuned action just send the revolver back to Colt and for porting contact Magnaport. I personally wouldn't port it. Either use a less powerful round or go to a lighter caliber. Why generate a volume of energy then bleed some of it off to control something. That has always sounded like a waste to me.

22-Rimfire...you're right, Fast Eddie has to go! He is totally anti gun and I have no idea how he got re-elected! I didn't vote for him!!

RocketFoot...

IMHO- I'd buy all three:D! That is if money isn't an issue (of course). All three are beauties and should make you a fine collection and good company for your Raging Bull I've seen on other forums ;). Take care, and please tell us the outcome.

LOL...I can shoot .44 mag all day! I currently have a 6" Raging Bull .44 mag in stainless...

I did plan on buying all three, but then the seller suprised me with a mint King Cobra in bright stainless and a mint Python in Royal Blue! Both 6" barrels...Money is tight and 3 guns is my limit...so I think it will be 3 pack of Colt Snakes for me!

I'm constantly hearing about "timing issues" with Colts. I have about a dozen of them now and have yet to see the very first one with ANY timing issues whatsoever. I'm beginning to think it's one of those urban legends we hear about so much on the internet. My Anaconda is as tight as any of the Colts I've owned or shot and is a very sturdy pistol. It came in the standard Matte Stainless finish but I like the polished look much better and gave it a "shine"

I have also been recently hearing about a timing problem. I've owned and been around quite a few models since they came on the market. Mine have been rock solid and so have my friends models. Could someone please detail the so call timing problem since you don't hear about anyone having troubles with their revolver but yet apparently there is a reputation for a problem?
