Anyone sell on Gun Broker?

Hey guys, I'm looking at selling a rifle, and I'm looking at Gun Broker, and it says you can ship USPS to any FFL in the US. That's all well and good, but does anything else need to be done to ship a long gun (anything special)?

Input is appreciated!

in any way that will hint there is a firearm inside. I know, I know...a box with a long gun in it seems to be sort of a giveaway..but that partly because we are oriented to firearms. A long box could also be a set of blinds. And, I just read on this forum recently to make sure and use lots of bubble wrap....don't use packing material like newspapers, etc...don't work. Use bubble wrap.
 
I have shipped several long guns to an FFL dealer after selling them on Gunbroker. Originally I had checked at my local post office and the postal guy checked his manual and advised it was perfectly legal to ship a long gun (only) to an FFL Dealer. Fortuately I had the original box and the shipping sleeve in all cases. Was advised by the postal clerk yo make sure that no firearm logos were on the shipping case and to insure it for at least 500.00. Postal workers are not dumb, they know what's in those long boxes. I never had a bit of trouble with the USPS.
 
Thanks fellas. Yeah, I figure I'll get a plain cardboard box and a lot of bubble wrap.
 
I'd suggest taping several layers of corrugated cardboard over the muzzle end of the rifle after wrapping it in bubble wrap. Nothing gives away a long gun more than a nice barrel sticking out the end of the carton. ;)
 
I just sold a rifle of Gb a little while ago. Pack it up well with bubble wrap and cardboard. If shipping USPS, enclose a copy of the dealers FFL and bill of sale. Write the address on the box with permanent marker because labels get lost in transit sometimes. Keep a second copy of the documents with you when you go to the post office. Declare that you are shipping a rifle and the clerk should ask if you have broken it down and unloaded it. They may check. They will also keep a copy of the FFL and double check the shipping address against the bill of sale. Send it priority mail, insured, adult signature required. It should take about $30-40 to ship that way. If you get paid in USPS MO you can pay shipping and cash your MO in one shot. Handguns have to go 2nd day Air UPS at a shipping hub, similar process.
 
It helps to print out a couple of the postal regs and take it with you when you go. I have shipped long guns a few times by the USPS, and once I encountered a clerk who told me I had to be an FFL to ship a gun. She wanted to see my license. I showed her a copy of the receiving FFL's license and a copy of the regulations. She had to call her supervisor over, but we got it straightened out.
