Yes I fell into the trap and bought one last year. And no offense to anyone but I need to ask a question about factory loads.

Has anyone tried the Federal Vital Shok factory loads in 7mmWSM? What can you tell me?

I 've tried the Win. Power Point (cause they're the cheapest for sighting in) and it doesn't group worth a damn. The Win Ballistic Silvertips group OK but they're $25 a box. The Federals are just as expensive but if they shoot straight, I'll try'em.

What's strange is I can shoot my 30.06 (same model gun , same scope, same 3 pound trigger, same sitting) with the Win power points and get 1 inch groups. I don't get it. Maybe they don't have all the bugs worked out of this new round.

I have a 270 WSM. It's close. As a general rule every gun has it's preferences. You can line up three guns with everything the same and each one can shoot can shoot the same bullet with different degree of accuracy. You just have to try and find the cartridge combination your gun likes the best.
Your biggest problem, if you don't handload, is finding different manufactures who makes 7 WSM cartridges. It seems to be the least popular of the three WSM.
There is no problems with Federal stuff. It is usually top notch. Give it a try and see if your gun likes it.
If all else fails try the website shortmags.org They usually have a lot of good info on shortmags. Good luck and hope this helps
