Appalling UK rape conviction rate

The BBC reports that the UK’s rape conviction rate is an absolutely appalling 5.7%. And only 25% of victims report the crime. Not exactly shocking considering the near zero conviction rate. And this means that a UK rapist has about a 1.5% chance of conviction.

I wonder that the reporting and then conviction rate in the USA is, and I wonder how many USA women used a gun to shoot or dissuade a would be rapist (statistically). I have to believe it is at least 1%, at least in free states.

It is an interesting statistic to force gun grabbers to acknowledge. I believe women are hit hardest by gun control.

Nothing will happen,they will give it the usual lip service,look and sound concerned.A woman in the UK cannot even carry mace,pepper spray.My wife knows how to use a gun,thank god...

Why would this be so???

(Don't know, just asking if anyone has an insight. Last time I was in the UK, people warned me about "glassings" or being roughed up by "yobos", but no one mentioned rape. Then again I am male, 6'1" and 190 lbs.).

Some cultures would not report it in the UK, if they did, the male members of the family would make that person, the reporting party, "disappear"...

I am afraid there are male rapes as well.Next time you are in the UK come North,the only crime you are likely to experience is a speeding tractor.Plus we welcome gun owners/hunters.
