I don't know if we necessarily need a "who has the most guns" contest. I simply request that your best score goes to the grand finale total. It is a positive bi-product of having more than one gun to shoot. Simply limit your entries to one target per class. Shoot each gun only once. Shoot as many guns as you want as long as you shoot each gun at one target, and one target only. So for example. Lets see how many guns I have to shoot in this one.
Stock: 12
Improved: 2
Scoped: 0
Open: 7
Ok, so I have a total of 21 firearms I could have shot in this match if we don't count handguns and shotguns. However, since I have firearms that fit into one of the three military surplus catagories, I should be prohibited from entering the open class. So now I have a choice of 14 rifles I can shoot in the Stock and Improved class. I should be allowed to submit two targets. One for the Stock class and one for the Improved class. I should be allowed to shoot 1 target for each of my 12 stock rifles, but I may only submit one and I can only print out one target for each rifle. The same would apply for the Improved class, I print two targets, I shoot one gun for one target. As far as my final score that goes into the grand tally, I don't agree that it should be the lowest of the stock and improved score. At the least it should be an average of the two. I would argue that since you took the time to shoot two classes, you should be rewarded by being to use the highest of the two or three submitted scores for your grand tally.
If we are trying to discourage people from printing out multiple targets for a single firearm, it is impossible and I think it misses the point of the match. If people are going to cheat, there is really nothing we can do about it other than having a notary watch the match and sign the document too or having two THR members present to sign off the targets. I don't have to print out mulitple targets to practice. I simply take a cut in half manila folder and place a 3/4" target paster in the middle of it. That 3/4" target paster is about the size of your bulls eye and the half a manila folder is about the size of the 8.5"x11" target. The tighter I get the group, the better. Once I think I am ready, I shoot the real target. And that is it. If I botch it, I botch it. As you will see by my scores this month, I didn't do all that great and if I were going to cheat, I would probably try to get at least a 17 or 18!!! There is nothing we can do about cheaters other than look for powder burns on their paper. If they take the time out of their day to cheat and send it in, they know that their win is empty and a sad, sad commentary on the state of their existence. Lets not let their miserable excuse for breathing ruin our day!
Again, thanks a millon ROTR. What a great thing this is even if I am mad at myself for not hitting that bastard RPG man more. And by the way, I shot my best score with the good old Schmidt Ruben K-31. If you don't have a K-31 yet, please go buy one now. Quit wasting your time on all other projects until you get a K-31.
