AR-10 Build Finally DONE!

After six months, a of lot buying Coors instead of Fat Tire, and even more time spent explaining to the girlfriend that this only a natural phase in the advanced stages of Black Rifle Disease, my (CA-neutered/compliant) AR-10 is done.

I built it from the stripped AeroPrecision lower up, (I live in CA, so no Armalite lowers.), using an Armalite stripped upper, BCG, and barrel. California: Where there is a will, there is a weapon.

I apologize in advance for awful picture quality. Aformentioned girlfriend borrowed my camera, so I am stuck with my cellphone until Friday.

Thanks to all of you guys who posted in the AR-10 related threads (some dating back years) that I used as a reference source to guide me on this journey.

I am just waiting for my Go/ No-Go gauges to arrive so I can check headspace, and then I have some M80 from Her Majesty's ROF to feed it on the first range trip. Hopefully early next week.

Love the stock! Beautiful rifle. How do you like the 3x magnifier? Does it work well with the eotech or just get in the way? Again, awesome rifle.
 
Solid build man. Great job on this one! I see you did your homework. I too suffer from the Cali liberal republic.
 
Thank you for the comments, it would be an understatement to say that I am especially proud of this one.

I do like the 3x magnifier; I've used a similar setup previously on an AR-15, albeit with a cheaper, non flip to side mount that also lacked A.R.M.S. levers. I knew that it would work for me, but I also knew that it was worth it to buy the FTS mount and spend the money on A.R.M.S. levers. There is a GG&G MAD fold-down rear sight under the magnifier, so when it is time for iron sights, I can either flip it out of the way or remove it entirely in a flash and go. TLDR; Pricey, but worth it.

Yeah, there was a lot of homework to do. Almost went for the DPMS/KAC pattern rifles, but I got a good deal on the AeroPrecision lower, and I really like Armalite's stuff. I put their two-stage tactical trigger in this one, and it breaks so smoothly that I cannot wait to get this thing to the outdoor range. :D
 
True, it requires a couple of extra odds and ends, careful receiver selection, and a bit of creativity when ordering magazines (in parts, and then blocking them). That having been said, if you do this kind of thing enough, you meet people out here who seem to have made it their mission in life to legally make a mockery out of this state's silly AWB. There are a lot of them, and they are quite helpful and very generous to people of the same persuasion.
 
I guess I have built enough AR's out here in CA that I don't think it's that hard to build a CA complaint one at all.

This place is not as bad as everyone thinks. Once you know your way around the ****ty laws you don't even have to put to much thought into it.
 
What kind of stock is that? You have a mighty fine rifle there. My AR-10 type rifle is most definitely my favorite gun.
 
That's a Magpul UBR stock. Requires a special buffer for this application (due to the length of the carrier), which was not cheap, but I do love that stock. Assuming my headspace check goes well (I know, some will argue it is not necessary, but I put too much time and money into this thing not to go the extra mile and check), and it performs at the range, it'll certainly be the "first among equals" in my safe.
