Hello everyone. I recently purchased a doublestar M4 style AR 15 from buds gun shop and have put 130 rounds through it without a single problem. I'm curious about something that i noticed when handling it the other day...when i load a live round into the chamber, close the bolt, then pull the charging handle back to eject the cartridge, there is a very shallow dent in the middle of the primer obviously caused by the fireing pin. i am simply feeding the cartridges through the rifle, not firing them. i have done this with multiple live rounds and they have all been ejected with dents. why is this happeneing? how do i fix it? it was rather scary the first time it happened because it means that the firing pin is striking the primer without me even pulling the trigger!! thoughts?
thanks,
Dylan

That's normal. There isn't a spring with the firing pin so when the bolt flies forward and stops, the firing pin keeps going and bumps the firing pin.

I haven't read any negligent discharges from AR15's and firing pin hits from loading rounds.

Normal. A person should read up and thoroughly understand a firearm before playing around with it.

so when loading my own ammunitino(once i get the equipment for 223), is there anything i need to know about special rules for loading for the AR? like primer hardness, primer depth, etc
