Looking at a S&W MP15.
All options are within $50 of each other.
All have flat-top uppers and Troy BUIS.
1) Classic stock
2) Magpul Stock
3) Quad-rail forend

At most I just want to put a light on it.

Is there any reason to get the quad rail forend?
Between the classic stock and the magpul MOE stock, are there any ergonomic advantages of the Magpul? It looks more ergonomic but also less durable because it's "plastic-y". Then again, Glocks are "plastic-y" and hella reliable.

I guess, get the quad rail (doesn't need to be FF), since you're going to put a light on it. Otherwise, stay stock. Some folks will say MOE is better than the standard M4 stock. I say, the M4 stock will work just fine. jmho, of course.

Quadrails expand the usability of the rifle quite a bit. It allows you to easily add lights, VFG, etc. Some people need them, some do not. It is really up to you if you do.

I use CTR stocks, not the MOE but they are very similar. I prefer the Feel of these stocks myself to the original, but once again it depends on what works best for you. Although the MOE or CTR will be more durable than the original stock. I don't know why you think it seems less Plasticy than the factory stock.

The MOE forearm is quite solid, and allows easy attachment of rail sections for mounting a light. It's not as good as a quadrail for that, but costs less and weighs less. Check the weight of the quadrail to make sure you'd be happy with it.

^^^^^ I agree, I put a quad rail on mine for about 3 months, took it hunting once, removed the rail and but the original back on. much happier :D

I love FSB-mounted rails for lights. With a CAR- or M4-length setup, the FSB rails put the rocker switch of a TLR or M3 light right at your lefthand thumb. That's really all the rail space I need, so I can dispense with the heavy and expensive quad rails.
