Finally got the AR57 upper out to the range today and it is a fun little gun to shoot, as you would expect there is no recoil at all. With a full 50 round mag on top it is a little front heavy but holds very steady. No failures at all through the 100 rounds I shot today. I've got a 2 1/2 MOA red dot on mine and given the limitations of the red dot, and my old weak eyes, it shot pretty well. My upper seems very well finished and fits very tightly to the RRA lower, so tightly in fact you are not simply pushing the take down pins out by hand.

The best 5 shot group I got was .770", and on one target I shot 3 seperate 5 shot groups on top of each other with a break in between each 5 shot string. The results were three distinct groups with a small seperation between each. I think this is simply due to the inexact aiming point each time, the dot completely covered the bull so trying to get the exact same hold point was a problem for me. I'll try to post some targets later today.

is it piston, or gas impinge? how do you like the case drops, straight through the mag well? smack you on the feet/ roll around under your feet? Since no case out the side, what was the gas exposure from the side like, or could you tell, being if it was gas impinge? I ask because I am a lefty.
What would you say the speed was like as far as recoil impulse? Or said another way, do you think you could pull the trigger as fast as you like, without any probs feeding?

Oh yeah, without the reddot, what was your cost, and if you could add it up by parts, that would be good.

I would like one with no vert foregrip, pencil bbl, and if possible, a top rail with detach carry
handle, a2 style, and collapsible stock with cheekpiece. so if you could ballpark yours, that would be good. they also make a 100 round mag right? how would that fit?

I don't think they do a 100 round mag for this, just 30s and 50s. (and i think the 30 is just a 50 artificially reduced to "only" 30).

50 is the max magazine, I cut the top off an old 30 round mag and insert it. It holds all 50 empty cases so I didn't have any rolling around. Ejection is very good, I don't think you would have any problems trying to work it too fast.

The uppers run $675-700 depending on where you buy them, I found mags online last week for $29 for FN mags, but they are back up to $35 now. Ammo is running $19/50 for the 40 gr. Vmax.
