Hey folks, I am looking for two things to put on my AR, and if you can help, please tell me where to go.

First, I need a good sling. I saw this one kind that would hold it in front of you, in a ready to grab/use position. (Not the standard shoulder sling.) I have no idea what it is called, but it looked very useful.

The second item I want, is just a bayonet. Not exactly the most useful modern weapon, but I like sharp things.

If anyone cares (or it matters0 what rifle I have, this is it.

Thanks for any help.

+1 on spectergear. i have a spectergear (formerly cqb solutions) sling on all my ARs, except my NM which has a turner sling.

DSG Arms has altered M7 bayos that fit the carbine length. They come with the M10 sheath. A bit pricey at $59 but sure looks good. I like pointy things on rifles too.

I better swallow some pride before I spend more money...

I checked the website on my rifle, it makes no mention of a bayonet lug. Any quick easy way to check if my rifle has it or not?

The Giles looks like what I want for a sling, and the CQB looks identical. Now I just need to make sure I get the right one for my rifle.

...picking gun accessories, not rocket science, harder than rocket science.

Bayo lug is that thing you see under the forward part of the front sight base.

I have an Israeli patrol sling from DSG Arms in TX on my Colt AR-15A3. If you want to mount a bayonet on a 16" carbine, DPMS sells a bayonet lug that clamps on the battel ahead of the front sight tower, which will allow you to use a standard pig sticker.

Bayo Options for carbines

As I understand it:

1. 14.5" barrel w/permanent FH attached.

2. 16" barrel w/FH and midlength handguards.

Either of those will work with the issue bayo.

3. 16" barrel w/FH, carbine-length handguards, and the 'extended' bayo offered from DSG.

Of those options, I'm probably going to pick #2 for my next upper.

I use Specter Gear slings as well. They are very well made and reasonably priced. I have a CQB for my 870 and my AR. I'll continue buying them.
