ar15 bluing/black question

Just got my first ar15, a rock river mid length. I love it and since I've never had this type of gun before I was taking it apart but the reciever pivot pin would not come out easily so I used a knife to slowly pry it out. This caused two little scratches on the outside of the hinge, all the coating is gone. Will normal gun blue or black take care of this? Should I use blue wonder? Thanks for any feedback!

The receiver is aluminum and will not take bluing. It was anodized black at the factory. It could have been blue, green or cherry red but they chose boring black.

A good touch up paint like brownells alumi-hyde will work. Most any flat black enamel will work. I've used Krylon on a project and it did very well.

Or you can touch it up with a sharpie.

Birchwood Casey makes a touch up pen for black aluminum guns, it will work good for what you need. About $6 at your local gunshop....

Or a 2 ounce bottle of Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black will cost about six bucks.
A better value and if you use clean cotton swabs each time you dip into the bottle you won't corrupt the rest of the fluid which is what happens with those goofy touch up pens.
It will take about six to ten applications and the scratches will not totally disappear but you will have too look close and in the right light to find them.

By the way, I completely despise any kind of paint on a firearm, I don't care how good it is supposed to be.
One good scratch on any of those finishes and they will eventually begin to flake like dandruff.
