For a Glock 23? No
Glocks engineer loves it. Austrian language sounds funny?:

That does not appear to be in German. What language is he using? That's funny.

They waited until after Walther, Springfield Armory, Ruger, S&W, Bersa, Kahr, et al. had pretty well saturated the market with this class of pistol. Sure the die hard Glock fanboys will go for it above all others, but that leaves lots of people like me, to whom the Glock is merely one of many really great gun designs, who already bought a single stack nine long ago, and see no benefit to changing.
As someone who owns a 43, SCCY, and a shield and used to own a Kahr I can say that the SCCY and the 43 are not good comparisons. I love my SCCY and it is my go-for-a-walk-around-the-neighborhood gun. It is a bit thicker and more importantly to me it carries much thicker Than the 43. I loved carrying the Kahr, but mine was one of the (many) lemons and their customer service really ticked me off.If people are happy with it then great. It just doesn't seem to do anything that other guns don't already do. I wonder how many people realize that the SCCY CPX-2 is smaller and lighter than the Glock 43, is about the same width, holds 10+1 rounds and only costs $220.00
SCCY CPX-2
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.1 in
Length: 5.7 in
Height: 4.0 in (without mag extensions)
Width: 1.0 in
Weight: 15.0 oz
Capacity: 10+1 Round
Glock 43
Caliber: 9mm
Barrel: 3.39 in
Length: 6.26 in
Height: 4.25 in
Width: 1.02 in
Weight: 17.95 oz
Capacity: 6+1 Round
I guess you could argue that the G43 has a much better trigger than the CPX-2 but for 45 bucks you can put a Galloway trigger in the CPX-2 and you've still spent way less than what folks are charging for the G43.
The CPX-2 is just an example - there are other guns out there that have been doing the same thing already. My CM9 has a decent trigger, is smaller and lighter than the Glock 43.
I don't see a Glock 43 in my future. If I were going for that size factor in a 9mm I think I'd get the Shield, a Kahr or the SCCY.
