So, there is a lot of talk what a Democrat controlled congress and an obama president means for gun owners. Stricter gun laws of course. I would say concealed carry, "assault weapons", and even semi-auto handguns are at risk.

Concealed carry and "assault weapons" will be the big issues though.

History usually shows that many laws allow a grandfather clause, if you purchased before x date you can keep it. So I am wondering how many of you are going to stock up on guns that may be banned or just in general.

From what i have read, gun sales have sky rocketed since the election.

Sorry, i guess this isnt the right forum, just realized. if needed, a mod could move it.

well actually a big issue is semi-auto handguns, so maybe this forum isnt completely wrong...

Our Dem rules will probably not be able to push anything major through until early summer of next year if they even attempt it. It really hurt them in 1994 and they might be hesitant to try it again.

However, I'm still considering the possibility of more restrictions. I am satisfied with my current number of various firearms, but I plan on buying a few more magazines and building up my defensive ammo supply. I can also get a few rounds here and there from work for 9mm, .40, 12 gauge, and 5.56.

No. I stocked up during and before the Crime Bill of 94. I have everything I need and more. Plus I don't shoot as much as I used to other than I'm a hunting fool (shotgunning). No money going out of my wallet in preperation for this new upcoming anti-gun administration. I did speak with a friend in Wisconsin yesterday and he said the local gun show sold tons of ammo and AR-15 spare parts this weekend. From seeing the prices of today I did pretty good even though I ate alot of hot dogs and beans to get what I needed back then. It's going to be a memorable rollor coaster ride for the newer to the shooting sports.

I voted yes, that I am stocking up. But that's not truly accurate.

I DID stock up. Between July and about 2 weeks ago, I went on a frenzy buying ammo and mags and a couple guns. I figured that this was going to happen and rather than waiting to be one of the people in ine waiting to order back-ordered ammo the day after the election, I'd just walk into stores or order online while prices were relatively low, and supply was high.

IBTL, methinks.

But yes. Already bought a stripped AR lower I can barely afford, and I'm planning on getting more reloading supplies and firearms.

On election day I ordered a custom 1911 in .38 Super, just in case it's my last one, I wanted it to be a good one!

Now I'm stocking up on .356" and .357" procectiles, powder and primers.

Obama doesn't scare me, Pelosi does.

I did go against my better judgement and lay down the plastic to purchase a P6 I found online. Wish I could afford a lot more.

A friend and I were in Cabela's last Friday and the gun counter was packed with folks looking. My friend bought a Bushmaster M4 carbine, Glock 45ACP and Ruger M89. I couldn't help myself and picked up an Argentine Hi-Power 9mm. The salesman said they can't get enough AR-15s and clones. We also stocked up on ammo.

So I voted yes!

Don't forget Obama will also get to make at least 2-3 SCOTUS justice nominees!!! Heller only won by 5-4 majority!!

No, I'm not stocking up.
I already have more than enough.
Besides, all it takes is 1 handgun for a clever man to obtain more handguns. ;)

The two that are likely to retire during Obama's reign are liberals. So the court isn't likely to shift.

At any rate, I'd have clicked "No", but it's not because I don't think Obama is a threat. I just don't think he's nearly the threat that the hair-on-fire crowd seems to think he is, and the guns he's likely to go after -- if he does at all -- are those that hold no interest to me.

Doubtless that makes me a "fudd"...

This is a bad way for a gun owner to think, because sooner or later, he will go after the guns that are of interest to you.

All of us gun owners need to fight any and all attempts to trash the 2A.

I'm already stocked up, I saw this coming and have been stocking for the last 2 years.:D

7.62x39 = 3000 rounds
22 LR = 3000 rounds
22 mag = 850 rounds
40 S&W = 3500 rounds ( I reload this caliber)
357 mag = 750 rounds (ditto the reloading)
38 spl = 500 rounds ( ditto the reloading)

You need a choice for; "No, because I am always stocked up no matter who is president."
Ditto... you can never have too much ammo or mags. You can however have too many guns. I don't believe in buying guns you don't need. If you didn't need them before Obama, you most likely don't need them now. Its just more stuff to maintain, and try to be proficient with. I like to have a few quality firearms, and as much ammo and mags as I can get my hands on.

More ammo and mags!! Everytime I hit Wally World, I clean them out of their 9mm and 45acp WWB. Luckily we have a bunch around here. CDNN has been getting a bunch of my business on high capacity mags.

As for guns, I have a bunch as well, but I liked what KBintheSLC said. I won't, however, ever get rid on my old S&W revolvers, Colt Snakes or HK P7 and P9 collections. Those were investments and go to my son when my daughter gets all her Mom's jewelry.

Between now and next summer, me thinks I'll be buying a "higher end" 1911, a HK P7M13, a HK P30L, and maybe another Colt Python (nickel). That should do it......

Ha! :banghead:

You forgot "Fudd!!!"

Seriously though, I am not saying that I don't care if certain guns are banned. I am saying that I don't need to stock up because the guns I am interested in are not the types that are liable to be further restricted any time soon.

This past year I picked up a PLR-16, wasr-10, and Saiga 308 knowing they may become unavailable. I picked up a DPMS stripped lower this week for the same reason. All stuff I wanted anyway. I'm pretty much set for awhile, wish I had the cash for a Saiga 12 as well.
