he is

going to be very busy the next few years just trying to get this country back on its feet and out of this war. I just don't forsee a major effort on his part to screw with the 2nd amendment.

Course I have been wrong before..

Definitely time to stock up. Properly stored ammo will outlast us and guns appreciate. What would you rather have had, another $10k in the stock market this year or in good quality arms?

Another "already stocked up"

I've been pretty well "stocked up" for years. I like to shoot handguns, and always keep a good inventory of ammo that fits my guns. And I have a fair supply of guns from years of buying. So I won't be doing anything out of the ordinary in buying guns or ammo. My available storage space is close to full.

Guns might not be goign anywhere, but gun stores, dealers, ammo, manufacturers, etc may be. this is how obama likes to work, he goes after lets say ammo, or dealers, its less obvious and is easier to trick the public into buying.

overall, some great responses, i am sorry that i missed the "i am already stocked up" questioon, but i dont think i can change it after its started.

one good reason to stock up, is this new NJ bill that bans all 50 caliber weapons, even many antique guns. last i read the bill it basically said if you already own one, you can keep it. since this is usually what happens, it makes sense to stock up.

and to the people saying that they have too much more "important" stuff to worry about like getting country back together, this is exactly wht they are banking on. people being too concerned and busy with more important things, to worry about "stupid gun laws"

HR 1022 is still floating around out there. I see no way it will not come up to a vote during the next session of congress. Obama lists reinstating the assault weapons ban as one of his priorities on his web page. Also, current legislation does not have a "Sunset" provision. Further more, all "assault weapons" and high cap mags will be outlawed from "private sales" without an FFL transfer.

I can remember during the 94 ban. In 2001, 50 rd 10/22 mags sold out at $400 a piece on ebay. Glock 22 or 17, high cap mags went for $120. AK and AR mags never really got to expensive though, and were always available.

I have been stocking up on Mags and guns for the last year in anticipation of the current flurry of sales.

i think here in NJ, we already have the 94 assault weapon ban in state law, which is permanent and doesnt expire. i believe its even more restrictive. 15 cap on all mags too.

are there any bills that would outlaw my stock bushmaster predator? i dont think so right?

HR 1022 applies to any copies of an AR 15. Also, any semi auto gun with a detachable mag and any of the following:`(i) a folding or telescoping stock, a threaded barrel, a pistol grip a forward grip; or a barrel shroud.

Last ban allowed two "evil" features, this one only allows one.

I'm buying what I can (magazines) with what money I can spare (not much).

I'm hurtin on GSG5 mags. Only have the one that came with it.

On a side note, I do feel guilty about buying for myself this close to christmas...

Oh HECK yes. I am definately part of the National gun buying craze. And I'm enjoying it to the fullest.

Yeah, I believe it's a bit of an over-reaction, but I'm taking full advantage of it while my wife is under the firm belief that I have to buy 'em now before it isn't allowed.

I'm buying guns like crazy with the full blessing of my wife. It's awesome. And, who knows? She may be right.

In the meantime, I'm a gun-buyin' fool!

The Supreme Court's ruling on the DC Gun Ban was clear enough evidence that the 2nd Amendment is sound and you should have nothing to worry about - much - except assault weapons, etc. - the kind of weapons meant for military style use.

I wouldn't put it as "Hell Yes...." but I do have some concerns about a ban on surplus ammo importation and I have 3 hungry Mosins to feed. I am ordering by the case whenever I can manage it.

:rolleyes:Do you mean scary-looking guns with certain cosmetic features, or select fire guns which were banned in may of '86?

Hell, I started stocking up when CARTER was president! :barf:
Europe and Canada are ahead of us. They've already done what we will do someday. Private ownership of firearms worldwide is on the way out. It is inevitable.
I understood this thirty years ago.

It is unfathonable to me to even begin to think that at this date, 38 members on here don't feel Obama poses any threat to their gun rights.

Do these people have their heads buried in the sand? I expect that statement from people who don't have any interest in guns, but not from the membership here. Not from people who have even half a brain. Not from a gun owner who wants to remain a gun owner.

No matter how you look at it, a lot of people in power don't look at things like we do. Historically the US Gov has never really banned a gun, they usually say just no more. Gun laws deal with 2nd amendment, gun seizure gets into 5th amendment and compensation becomes an issue. 1934 NFA started tax although grandfathered those who already had them. 1968 said no more foreign MG's, although allowed what was here to stay. 1986 Said no new MG's, although allowed those out there to still be transfered. 1994 (event though it expired) said no new mags with more than 10 rounds or "ugly" rifles, although allowed us to keep what we had. I say if you want it, or ever think you might, now may be a good time to get it.

I really am not convinced that the President elect and his trusty advisers are spending all their time plotting and planning their disarmament of the American people. I am definately not saying Obama is pro gun, he's obviously not, but we need to look at the bigger picture here.

Gun control is one issue in a sea of issues buffeting this country including, but not limited to: economic disaster, massively expensive wars, emigration, collapse of the health care system, funding of public schools, Terrorism, winding up in China's pocket, ect..... I believe that all of these Issues are currently ahead of gun control in the National attention. The economic crisis is hitting alot of people where it hurts these days, and they are pushing very, very hard for some kind of improvement. Obama Switching focus from the economy to gun control immediately upon entering office would obviously be political suicide. I believe that since Obama is a smart man (people who make it to that level in politics usually are), gun control will sit on the back burner until a couple of the aforementioned larger issues get worked out. I'd give us at least 2 years at the very soonest before anything serious is done on the topic (barring a horrific school shooting).

On the pole I voted no, that Obama does not *immediately* threaten our 2nd rights. As such, I'm not buying anything at the currently elevated prices. After everyone wishing to do so spends all their money, and prices fall back down, then I will go back to buying these kinds of guns.

On a similar note, the NRA spends a ton of money and time cultivating an image of gun owners as reasonable, normal folks, which we are. But when you engage in a knee jerk reaction such as our current buying spree, it appears neither reasonable nor normal to non gun people, which like it or not make up a large part of the population of America. So, do the NRA a favor and leave that money in your pocket for a couple of months, then later you can spend it, guilt free and secure in the knowledge that you did not panic and get ripped off.

I agree with you 100%. Perhaps all these folks are in a state of denial or something. However, anyone who actually believes that obama :barf: is not a threat to the 2A is sadly mistaken.
