I agree with Southpaw. I see a dealer with a nice selection of CZs here regularly (of course being in Missouri CZ seems to have quite a few dealers that carry their guns), and he seems to move inventory slowly. I have noticed quite a bit more interest in these pattern guns in recent months though, at least online and based on the emails I get with questions about them. I suspect the time may be ripe for agressive moves by makers for several reasons. The end of the AWB made the hi-cap models (CZ, EAA) a better option due to mag availability. EAA's move of basing everything on the large frame exploits that nicely by offering an 18 shot 9mm and a 15 shot 40 standard. EAA and CZ have interesting new models well suited to competition, and some aftermarket parts makers are supporting those with sights, holsters, etc. Eric, Angus, and other competition shooters are getting attention and that promotes the guns. There have also been good deals out there on the guns. EAA was dumping their AWB era and 2005 model guns to clear the way for the new models and guns with full-cap magazines. For a time this will suppress prices, but that should end. The new guns also have features the old inventory lack (higher capacity magazines, accessory rails, Novak style sights, bull barrels), so that should entice customers.
This last point is where Armalite is focussing. They will offer guns with options you don't get in a base CZ or EAA, at about the same price as a base CZ. Forged slide/frame, adjustable sights (also probably Novak style), checkering, hard chrome, excellent trigger, and other options yet to be determined. At least that is where Mark Westrom wants to go with the line. Stay tuned and I will do what I can to keep you posted so long as my nosing into the project continues to be welcomed.
As it has been pro bono, I hope they find the price for my services hard to argue with.
