I'm fixin' to field strip my M15 for the first time.
Armalite describes the 2 piece hand guard takedown
as a two-man operation. Is this really the case,
and if so, is there a one-man workaround?

Thanks

W.S.

Just pull the delta ring back towards the receiver and wiggle the upper and lower handguards out. It does not take two people to do it.

I do not understand why a field strip would require handguard removal, tho.

It's a simple operation in theory; in practice handguard removal (and reinstallation) on some rifles can be very trying. Since Amalite tells you upfront it's a two person job, I'd anticipate that their rifles are amongst to hard ones.

Many vendors sell handguard removal tools that make the job much, much easier.

push down on the delta ring, remove the lower handguard first... then apply presure to the delta ring and remove the upper.

on AR15's and new M16's handguard removeal can be difficult, it's not like a rack grade M16A2 with a worn in delta assembly.

the first time I removed the handguards from my RRA Entry Tactical, it was a 1 man and a 1 woman job

Why take off the hand guards anyway?
Hey guys, I'm not sure I understand why either. It's just listed as a step in the FS procedure. Maybe to wipe the outside of the barrel with a little CLP or something, to protect it?
