Arsenal Firearms as announced that it's double barrel 1911 has been granted approval for sale in the United States. I am curious to hear thoughts on if it is a breakthrough design or just a novelty. Personally if I could afford it I would just have to have it, one of those things that just might be a real collectors item, maybe not in my lifetime but maybe in my children's future.

You mean this thing?

It looks like Siamese twins to me. The grip looks ridonculously wide.

No way both barrels would fire at exactly the same time, make a good paperweight.

They do. Most likely the two hammers are either joined together or the sears are joined together.

Makes me think of that Get Smart episode. "Stereo revolvers" from Japan with confusion due to language barrier...

Too damn gonzo'n'fun not to want one. Game changer? Who knows.

I have to wonder if there is a legitimate purpose for such a thing- I mean, other than manufacturing it just to prove that it can be done.

Isn't this an NFA item, more that one cartridge fired with one trigger pull?

Two triggers like a double barrel shotgun but with joined hammers or a joined sear.

I would buy one for fun shooting and coffee table conversations like my desert eagle with 12" barrel. Useless but interesting.

it would be superb for shooting bowling pins

and this silly thing has been reposted about once a week since the first press release many months ago

I can't help but think that something is prone to breakage in this design as you have one slide, but two barrels and I'm assuming two separate barrel links. In theory everything should happen at the same time, but it would seem to me that any imbalance in timing would be a recipe for something to break.

I think it'd be fun. I'd never buy one, but if I had access to one, I'm sure I'd enjoy shooting it.
