We specifically want to ask them to be a co-sponsor.

There is only a day left for them to sign-on as co-sponsors.

Please call and write your Illinois State Representative, and Illinois State Senator, be polite. Be a likable person. Persuade, rather than demand.

For your Illinois Representative you can say some thing like

I'd like to ask you to be a co-sponsor on Brandon Phelp's Family and Personal Protection Act HB0997.

Thanks so much

For your Illinois State Senator you can say something like:

I'd like to ask you to be a co-sponsor on Gary Forby's Family and Personal Protection Act SB 1284.

Thanks so much

If you get a form letter back saying they support the 2nd Amendmnet, re-rempahasize that you'd like them to show their support by co-sponsoring the bills.

You can find your Illinois State Representative and Senator here:

Remember we're talking Illinois General Assembly

Also, for more detailed information on the two bills and current updates. You can visit IllinoisCarry.com

For THR forum members who live in Illinois...

The goal is to get at least 50 co-sponsors on HB0997 by Friday.

If you haven't written your Illinois State Representative, please write to them tonight - right now. And remember - we're not just asking for their suport - we're specifically asking them to be a co-sponsor.

If you need help finding who your state representative is, please use this website provided by the NRA to find your representative:

http://www.capwiz.com/nra/state/main/?state=IL&view=myofficials

We went through re-districting in Illinois this last election so I know it can be confusing. If anyone has any difficulty tracking down their representative, please feel free to PM me and I will track down your rep's contact info for you and give you a PM with their contact details.

Up-to-the minute updates can be found on IllinoisCarry.com

I should also say that we're looking to get 25 senators to co-sponsor on the senate version - SB1284

The next phase is here

I don't want to re-create the links to the witness slips for each bill, in this post. If you go to IllinoisCarry.com they have already embedded the links to the witness slips for each bill in the OP.

It is important that people use their real name and contact information. The witness slip option of testifying about a bill is great tool for law abiding gun owners, it shows very clearly how the gun control advocates in Illinois are a minority. Witness slips have always been overwhelmingly against gun control measures and anti-2A initiatives. The gun control advocates simply can't muster that many supporters willing to take time to fill out witness slips, send e-mails to their representatives and make calls. We do not want to give our opponents any cause to discredit the validity of the pro-gun witness slips.

Do not fill out a witness slip with ficticious information

If you're not willing to divulde that information to the Illinois General Assembly, that's fine, then just don't fill out a witness slip, whatever you do - do not create a fictictious witness slip.
