It starts again. (Sorry Norton and MikeK for stealing what is usually your call.)

From Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore:

HB 179 Ballistic Imaging Repeal - Delegate Neil Quinter's AWB Amendment

Delegate Neil Quinter has attempted to amend his Assault Weapon Ban of 2005 to HB 179 Public Safety - Repeal of Procedure for the Collection and Reporting of Handgun Shell Casing Information - Personalized Handgun Technology Report.

HB 179 as amended will contain the Assault Weapon Ban of 2005, and if passed in committee it will probably pass on the House floor. Reliable sources have indicated that a vote on the Quinter amendment will probably occur in the very near future.

It is critical that we put very heavy pressure (keep it respectful and polite) on Delegate Quinter. Pressure on the other delegates won’t hurt either. DO NOT put pressure on Chairman Vallario, at this point he wants HB 179 to pass as a clean bill without the anti-gun Quinter amendment.

end included message:

Please take time to contact folks on the House committee either via phone, mail, fax or email so we can put yet again another halt to these shenanigans.

And people like the guy from TripWire were so damned sure that the AWB would ONLY get attached to the Citizens Personal Protection Act.

This blows a hole in that theory.

Is this bill still in the Judicial Committee?

I'm gonna tell my delegate (Menes) about it right away. When two State Troopers protest AGAINST the ban, you know it's a bad thing.

00-guy,

No harm, no foul...I'm glad that you put it up....I fell asleep at 9pm last night and didn't see the email from Phil until this morning.

I sent off a polite but firmly worded letter to Del. Quinter this morning. I explained that, while he SAYS, he wants to work for anti-crime legislation WITH gun owners, he continues to follow the same old 40 year path of failure regarding gun control.

I also got Jim Purtilo's alert this morning.....funny how he manages to side step the fact that it was HIS pet legislation that got the AWB amendment attached to it and not the CCW. Yet, somehow he manages to obliquely blame HB1211 for the amendment. :banghead:

Everyone contact the JPR committee folks and tell them "no" to Quinter's amendment. If this thing gets out onto the floor, we're in trouble.

It still has to pass the Senate JPR.

This should be our fallback defense since the Senate JPR has voted "no" twice on AWB bills and the Senate JPR commitee is even stronger in our favor this year.

STILL, make the calls and send the letters - it never hurts.
