Hi All, just got a sig 239, 9mm, held it, fell in love, bought it. So ive been dry firing it for a few hours, and i'm looking at my grip...so all my fingers fit on the grip, but the bottom of my hand sticks off the grip about 1/4 inch, also, my middle knuckle on my middle finger tends to rub against the bottom of the trigger guard. Does anyone else have this happening to them? I see it as normal, as this is a personal size gun, and I have only been shooting an HK45USPF for the past year. Anyhow, I cant wait to take this to the range tomorrow, Ive heard nothing but good things about this gun... does it live up to its rep?

In a word, yes, it's a great little gun. I have a 9mm with night sights. Has been 100% reliable since day 1, eats everything, great trigger, very accurate. I put a set of Hogue walnut grips, very nice in hand. Enjoy!

You did good HKcenterMass, very good. I own one in 9mm with a rubber Hogue grips. Though because it is so small I have to pull the trigger with the tip of my finger instead of the middle, but that's no big deal. What the release and breakdown leaver for rust. As long as you don't sweat on it it should be ok. Get you a good holster and shoot often ;)

I got mine in .357SIG for CCW, absolutely love it. Perfect reliability thus far with all types of ammo and I get better groups with it than I do with my P220! I plan on picking up a Bar-Sto 9mm barrell for it one of these days for use at the range.

I bought my 239 in 357, then got 40cal. and 9mm barrels for it. It is one of my favorites, very reliable and excellent quality. I like to carry mine in a Sparks VM-2. It's a keeper.

"... does it live up to its rep?"

In a word - yep. SIG got this one right. Well, actually they get most of them right. Some will not like the P239 because of its size and some will not like it because they say it is top heavy. So, it is definitely not for everyone. But, I can't think of a pistol that is. However, the P239 does seem to please a lot more folks than it displeases.

I'll add my "Yup", to the rest. Great little 9mm, I shoot mine in IDPA, works well for the SSP class. I've got some nice leather for it, hand boned Don Hume 7/24 rig. What is kinda fun is to use the factory 10 round mags, they stick down quite a bit, but feel great, with the extra length. Most people hate the way they look (lonnng), but for a combat match, they are great!

Ive got one is .40.

I have big hands. The best thing I did for mine was to change the factory grips and put Hogue grips on them.

That was a major improvement. The grip is a bit longer and it had finger grooves in it. That combined with the tacky feel of the rubber made it much better to shoot as it fit the hand better.

You'll probably get more suggestions for the Hogue grips. they make a great little gun feel even greater...

:D

OK, just got back from th range with the 239. I really like this gun. Sweet, Sweet sweet trigger.I put 500 rounds through it today, 124 grain +p+, and 115 standard pressure. I couldnt miss. It took me at least 3 months to get this good with my .45 (i'm very recoil sesative). I have pics of the gun and my targets, but they wont upload, says file is to big...dont know what to do. OK, anyhow, out of 500 rounds, I had 2 double feeds, out of my HK, I have zero in 4800 rounds. I am not even concerned about that, so I'd say this 239 is definatly relaible. I was able to hit the 3 inch target from 50 feet with no problem, something I cant do with the HK on a consistant basis. (have a feeling its me, not the HK). THe majority of my targets were at 7 yards, and after about 65 or so rounds, I had a tennis ball size hole in the chest of the siloghette (sp?). I like this gun. the only thing it i do wish the grip were 1/4 longer, b/c when i draw the gun, it tends to fall forward, but its pretty well corrected when I bring the left hand up to support. I think I will try a set of hougue grips, and my next gun very may well be a 226 9mm.
The 239 lived up to its rep. I practically had to pry it out of my buddies hands...although i got to shoot his walther p-99, which is a great gun too.
I'm also looking for holster suggestions. IWB and OWB
