Ball lightning weapon anyone?

This phenomenon, which I have witnessed, seems more common in certain geographic areas. Producing it artificially would appear to require astronomical amounts of energy, and all the ball lightning does is discharge, perhaps damaging or destroying electronics gear and other equipment, and maybe people. To quote Scott in "Austin Powers," "Why don't we just SHOOT him, Dad?"

I hate closing threads like this, because the topic is pretty interesting. However, it's not really gun-related in the traditional sense.

(Of course, if anyone can demo an effective, man-portable lightning ball gun, such a thread would be on topic.)
