Bayo lug on an m1 cabine

for all you carbine nuts out there,

what does it take to put the band with the bayo lug on a carbine with a standard band. does it involve taking off the front sight, or is there some simple trick to it?

You will need to remove the front sight, slide the current barrel band forward off of the barrel, install the bayo lug barrel band, and reinstall the front sight. Just a word of caution, M1 Carbine front sights are almost always extremely tight on the barrel, and without a sight puller tool, you can and probably will become very frustrated trying to get it removed.
