I'm in the market for a belt holster for my 2-1/4" SP101 (standard hammer). This would be for CCW with a jacket, over-shirt, etc. & will not be IWB. It will be strong-side. The belt will be my Broommland or Sparks.

Any recommendations (pics are great!)?

Thanks.....

Unfortunately I lost most of my pictures but when I carry my SP101 it's in a Galco Concealable. Fits the gun great and very comfortable. I just bought one for a 1911. The belt is a Mitch Rosen.

This one is pretty old but it is the only one I could find. You can kind of tell how it hugs the body. I have since gone to a wood grip and the SP101 has been converted for moon clips. Maybe I'll get some new pics this weekend. Anyway, I have found it to be the next best thing to IWB for CCW.

Here is the Don Hume 721 O.T. that eagle45 is talking about. I bought one at a gunshow about a year ago. It is a great OWB Holster and holds my 3" SP-101 very securely. I recently had it on during a day of working cattle where I was on horseback for many hours, then traded off the chute work. The gun never moved from its original location. Hope this helps!!!!

Here is how I carry the same gun IWB..in a Tucker Heritage

I have a Don Hume belt slide for seven different handguns, one of which is for my SP101. Very good quality for the price. Good retention for an open-top belt slide too, I once took a dive-and-roll off a falling horse wearing a 1911 in one and it didn't budge.

Hey Ringer, what's that black thing between your keys and your cash? Looks familiar, almost as if I used to own one of those, just don't remember....

Dang, ya got me on that one. Been carrying one since I was kid but forgot what it's for. I figure it must be good for something and better to have and not need than need and not have eh?

I use the Bianchi Model 7 it's a pancake with a strap. I think they call it the Shadow II. but I maybe wrong about that. It will hold the 2 1/4" and the 3 1/16" SP101. Costs about $40.

These are good suggestions. I have a Hume No.36 JIT SLIDE that I use for a PT940 that I carry on occassion & it works well, so the 721 might be an option. (BigMike45, thanks for the pic of the Tucker too but I won't be going IWB with the SP101).

Ringer - it looks like the hammer has been bobbed on your gun too - can I ask who did the work for you? And thanks for the opinion of the Galco - it is one of the holsters I identified I wanted to look at.

Camacho - do you own any holsters from Simply Rugged? I might be interested in a field holster for my 6" 686 from him.

.45&TKD - are you carrying with a Minimalist? Can you tell me if it is a 105 or 106? The 106 is interesting because of the snap loops, but would it conceal as well as the 105?

Thanks.....

Mine is the Spurless Hammer DAO model. Other work was done Clark Custom Guns. In addition to the moon clip conversion they did an action job and put a smooth radius on the trigger. They do nice work.

I currently carry mine in a Galco Speed Master. They make quality holsters and are based in my beloved home state.

The FLETCH is also a great holster (also Galco). They're both pancake style holsters, but the FLETCH has a thumb-break, while the Speed Master is molded for retention without a strap.

Kevinch,

I do not own (yet) any of the Simply Rugged holsters but based on what I have read people who own them swear by them (there was another thread here for holsters for SP101) and the price is right. This will be my next pucrhase for sure.

desantis speed scabbard....I have a desantis scabbard for my 4" gp100 and it carries nice, so i can only imagine that it would be good for the sp101

I bought my 2.25" SP101 used and it came with a black Kirkpatrick 4100 J frame holster. Probably not the holster I would have bought, but I carry the Ruger in it all the time. It is concealable, comfortable, holds the gun securely, and is quick to get the gun into action even with the thumb break. The barrel sticks out about an inch below the holster. I have no intention of buying any other holster for this revolver.

when I carried the sp.I used a Desantis tumb break,I actually wore it between my belt and pants. In fact if you're a lefty,I sell you mine cheap.

its an OWB - with the snaps for easy on/off. I was surprised how close to the body it keep the gun - just as tight as a normal belt holster. This is the second "Laredo" I have ordered from Kevin. All of his stuff is great and the price is awesome!!

I carry my Model 60 with a 3" barrel in a Silver Dollar Loaded by Simply Rugged. It is a high quality holster and I recommend it without reservation. Take a look at the Simply Rugged web site to see more options.

Tony and boys at Milt Sparks make this one:

This particular copy holds my 629.

Sparks made the VMII for my 1911 - they do nice work.

I've considered Rusty Sherrick too - buying from him keeps the business in my home state of Pa, which I like to do (except forthe lousy 6% sales tax!).

Along those lines - anybody buy a holster from Bulman Gunleather? He is also located in Pa. I was looking at the FBS, FBS-H & maybe the QRH.

There really a lot to choose from.....

Matt DelFatti LP holster - excellent holster that carries my Gemini Custom 3" perfectly - even with CT grips.
