I've never carried a knife for self-defense, one for utility around town and others in the woods.
After thinking about one for defense against attempted "beat downs" or other crazy CQC situations, I concluded a folder is slower to deploy than I like. So, I bought a Benchmade SOCP dagger, the 176BK.
If the situation warrants, I can insert my index finger in the loop and the handle falls naturally into the palm of my hand when I pull it out. Place a thumb over the top and it can help create distance to either run or draw a gun.
One photo shows the dagger in its sheath and the other, along side it.
We'll see how it works out after I practice with it. BTW, I live in a state where permits are for weapons, so I'm GTG.
