Anybody know how good the Beretta Type M's are? How do they compare to the regular full sized 92's, or more specifically to the standard issue LAPD Berettas, whatever they are? Would this make a better carry weapon than a CZ 75B?

The M is a compact size 92 with an 8 round single stack mag.

It is about as compact as a shoe box.

are you asking about the Type M...

...because of THIS?:D

I picked one up from Turner's a month or so ago the first time that had this incredible deal. Although I can't answer your question about how it compares to the 92FS, I can provide my opinion of the Type M.

It has been entirely reliable thus far...only 400 some rounds through it, but no failures of any kind. This is just a personal preference, but I like the single stack and thinner grip. At this price, I'm thinking about picking up another one!;)

Sweet HeyZeus!!!

GTKrockeTT,

That's one VERY sweet deal on a NIB Beretta 92 Type M!

Me thinks that I'll have to keep an eye on this site for future possibilities.

That is a great price. Now that the word has spread across this country your fellow Californians thank you.;)

I gotta give my props to the Beretta 92M. I have not owned this particular Beretta but my experience with the brand has been nothing less than exceptional. I already own a Sig 239 .40, but if Beretta had made a 96M I would have bought that instead.

That said, I would bet my life on my other Berettas in a Vegas minute, and I do every day.

marklbucla, in a nutshell...get it, get it fast!:D

from your SN, sounds like you went or are going to UCLA, so did I, so trust your fellow Bruin.;)

and, for all those outside of California, I have only this to say to you...:neener: :neener: :neener: *, Turner's doesn't ship (or at least, it is generally against policy to do so).

*small consolation for us Cali folk not being able to have over 10 rounds and dealing with all this gun law bs:banghead: :cuss: .

I have both a 92G (just like the FS but decocker only) and a 92M. I like the 92G but the 92M conceals (at least on my) much better. I find that I like single stack pistols better. I really like the 92M, the only thing I dislike about it is that you cannot get it in decocker only.

Actually, that's a Beretta 92FS Compact L Type M. The "L" being the 8 shot single stack mag. The "M" being the shorter frame which without the "L" means it uses the 13 round mags.

See Beretta's website in Italy:

http://www.beretta.com/frame_tabellaprodotti_2002.asp?sgmt=22&Model=92#

http://www.beretta.com/images/p_92_96COMP-92COMP-LTM.jpg

And the US version:

http://products.berettausa.com/images/p_92_96COMP-92COMP-LTM.jpg

The Compact "M", while shown as only being a 10 shot magazine, does accept the "Pre-BAN" 13 shot magazines as well as the full size 15 shot 92F magazines (they stick out).

Regards,
James

Extremist,

I think you have it backwards. According to the link you posted, the "M" is for an 8 shot. "L" seems to refer to either compact.

Every M I've ever seen has had a single column mag.

The Beretta 92 Type M handles better than a standard 92 and feels better in many peoples's hands and holds 8 rounds. I think it is a very good gun for target practice or for CCW. It doesn't seem like a small gun, but is smalled compared with the Standard 92, while keeping all of the accuracy and reliability inherent to that design.

I strongly prefer the Sig P225 but the Type M is a very good alternative. I would not hesitate.

One disadvantage. Magazines are very hard to come by.

If anyone knows a source for Type M mags, please let me know. I could really use 2 or 3.

Cheaper Than Dirt had about 10 of them for $32.01 last time I checked. Of course, I took a couple of them.

THANKS! I'll check ASAP. I could use another 4.:)

Having both Compact type M(8round) and type L(13round) and several full size models the M compact is supremely accurate, more so than any other Beretta or Sig I have.
