The Beretta M391 Urika seems to be a terrific shotgun, but as with all alloy receivers, I have reservations as to whether the anodizing on the receiver will wear off worse than bluing on steel frames. Does it rub off or chip, as with light alloy handgun frames? Is the silver finish on the Technys (higher grade of the gun) any different in this regard than the standard M391?

Anyone know?

I have found the hardcoat anodizing on the alloy recievers to be tougher than blueing on steel guns. Not just a little either, it is a LOT tougher. Beretta does a very good job with it too. Don't worry in the least about the finish, it will hold up better than anything else besides hard chrome.

Thanks, guys! I'm trying to talk myself into a 20 ga. M391. As with all expensive (to me!) purchases, I try to feed my brain all the positive data, in hopes that it will overcome financial caution.

I suspect that Beretta shotguns are like Zeiss binoculars: once you get past the financial hurdle of paying for them, they're so good that you're glad that you sprang for the purchase.

Clever board name!

I have a 391 sporting. I've been impressed with how the finish holds up and how the wood is dense - it doesn't dent easily and the finish is low key and wears well. It's also very reliable.

Another nice feature is that you can adjust the stock with supplied shims very easily.
