So i have been working up some loads for my 308 using 168gr berger hunting vld's. the first box of 100 i got shot great after finding the right load ( best 5 shot group was .24" @ 100 yards everything else was close to that) but i was running low on my first box so i ordered 2 more from midway and they didnt come close to shooting as well even though everything else was the same. now i have to work up some more loads to see if i can get those results again.

I still had a few bullets from the orginial box left over and i compared the bullets for the old box to the new box and i they looked very different in shape. the new VLD's were much more rounded at all of the angles and the bullets were a few thousands of an inch shorter than the old box.
the boxes from the old and new are identical with all the labeling so i dont think i order a different type of bullet.

has anyone else noticed this and will i have to work up a new load every time i get a new box of bullets? if so ill go back to the gamekings that wouldn't group as good but they have always been the same box to box.
thanks
Pat

Eric Stecker From Berger bullets posts on Benchrest Central. http://www.benchrest.com/ You may find some answers there, or on his blog at Bergers website. Seems i remember the company retooling with new bullet forming dies, the calibers/type you will have to look up.
