I just bought a used .380 Bersa Thunder. It has an integral locking system, but no key. Can I get the key from anywhere?

If I could find mine I'd mail it to you.! Seriously, I expect it may be obtainable thru a request to Bersa ... tho I have no contact info - it has to be one of those things that gets lost real easy.

That is on page 5 of the Bersa Thunder Series owners manual that came with my recently purchased Thunder .380.

When did they start putting locks on them? Mine doesn't have a lock....

TXsigman - mine is approx a year and a bit old - and came with lock and key - not sure when that started.

Not sure when the key lock was added to the Thunder .380 line but everyone I looked at in the last year or so had them. Previous models like the 95 and 83's did not have them.
Rossi and Taurus has had them on their firearms for about 4-5 years now, perhaps longer. This seems to be a trend for South American import firearms, dont think I have seen this feature on imported European firearms though.

The integral locking system key is a female hex, from what my old eyes can decipher. Can't be too hard to find a substitute at a local hardware store, if you don't want to wait to get one from the US distributor. Not sure what size though.
Recent models also came with a plastic trigger guard safety too, but the poster said he needed a key for the ILS.

Why would you want to lock it .If you need it you would never
hit that little hole.fast under stress. If loaded pull mag, they have the mag safety and I can slam a mag home alot faster than use that silly key.

Just bought my Bersa MiniFirestorm .45 in February. Has the ILS, very similar to the Taurus system. Only use it when it's being stored unloaded (which means a different gun is loaded and carried).

I figure a ILS would be easier than a bolt lock. I lock all my gun with some type of trigger or bolt lock. I was trying to download the manual online (I hate Adobe) and saw that my gun had an ILS. I looked on my gun, and behold! A small holw marked F S.

I wanted a key for mine because it came locked. I did not know the Bersa's had a lock, then when I could not cock the hammer or retract the slide I got to looking. When I saw the odd little hole on the frame I figured it out. Mine was under the insert in the box.
