I think I got those right. I don't really want the doodads, so I signed up for the three-year with no magazine, which was the most I could afford. I think it said only $3.75 goes toward the magazine, but that's money they can use.

Does anybody renew it every year so the NRA gets the most money possible, or do they lose money shuffling paperwork to renew you every year? My plan was just to sign up for the longest amount of time possible so I don't have to worry about renewing, and donate some more money whenever I can afford to. Does anybody have the link through which I could do that?

It seems like they should have an option for four-year terms...

I think I did the three year thing too, but I kept the magazine. My Dad gets Hunter and I get Rifleman. :) They do have some of the same major articles though. I'm pretty young, so a life membership would be smart now, but if I ever want to cancel my membership to make a statement it would be a lot easier if I hadn't paid $1000 to get in (although they periodically have special deals that brings it down to $600 or so, so if you want to be a lifer wait for that). One or two years don't make much sense to me personally.

Right now I'm living pretty cheap, so I'm trying to get the best deal out of a membership I can...that's my excuse.

I paid $10 for one year,

without any magazine. They said I will get a card and a sticker in the mail.

That was a few weeks ago and seemed like the cheapest. I don't usually like to be cheap, however money is tight right now.

Instead of bailing out the big three, why not just bail out the tax payers, but I digress.

Yearly I renew my $10 associate membership. No mag of voting privileges But the important stuff is included such as libality insurance for our range.

At this rate for life membership to pay off for me I would have to live to be 131

NRA needs members not more money. Unless you want to get the magazines, go with the most economical memberships.

Life membership money will not increase lobbying, hence will not increase the influence of the NRA.

life members can now upgrade their membership to endowment for $200.
that's an $800. savings. the offer is good until jan.20.

Find a recruiter and you can get an annual membership for $25 - the gun show special. Yes, can also do the spousal thing for $10 a year.

We need all the help we can muster right now......

I went with the installment-pay life membership - $100/year for six years, if memory serves. (In $25 chunks. Not entirely painless, but....) Whether it was a good idea or not - I'm 62 - is a bit of a bet, but wth....

I've been a member, on and off, for 40 years, and maybe this time they won't lose me if I move - that's what seemed to happen before :D....

Regards,

I became a Life Member in 1976, so I've been getting the magazine for 32 years.
I give at least $250 per year to the ILA and upgraded to Endowment Member in 2006.
Even if you're not a member, giving money to the NRA/ILA is a good investment. They're the most effective pro-gun political group in the country.

Compare NRA membership to the cost of a box of ammo, or a tank of gas.

Then put the check in the mail.
