best looking vs ugliest handguns thread

I forgot to mention Colt Python. The blueing on earlier Pythons is astonishing. This gun is definately a thing of beaty. I tried to find a picture on the internet, but no picture shows it's true beauty. As I mentioned before nicely finished 1911 and Hi Power have very good looks. Single Action Army revolvers have very good looks as well.

Luger looks good on most pictures, but not when you hold it...

The second gun pic in my first post is a custom made Sig 210 Necropolis.

Best looking:
Kimber 1911 with Royal finish

Worst looking:
Ruger P89

Combinations

Looks nice but doesn't shoot so well:
Para-Ordnance SSP (actually it shoots OK-it just doesn't load or unload itself very well)

Doesn't look so hot but shoots very well:
HS2000 - one of the best shooting guns I own, especially since it only cost $269, which is depressing in a way considering how much money I have paid for other guns.

UGLY: XD's
NAA mini's
CA 2000
Smith & Walther 99's
camo auto loaders
Felk MTF
super short snubbies

NOT UGLY: Schofields
Hi-power
P7M8
Sig 210
a quality single action with blk laminate grips

Dear Carpettbaggerr;

I truly want all those guns soooo bad, especially the middle one - first .17 caliber I've ever wanted.

I can't help it; cut me, and I bleed S&W blue.

Now I don't expect everyone to agree with me, it's just my thing.

After all, Glocks are beautiful if you look just at their functional abilities and let that override their uh, distinctive looks. But I've got to say that the ugliest gun I've ever seen was a Glock that someone had engraved the slide of - gave me nightmares.

This one? Man, you got the fever bad. :D

I think the best looking pistol might be the Bergman.
Beautiful flowing lines, flawless fit and finish.
Functionally it leaves something to be desired but it sure do look nice

Fugly
Any Glock
Any SIG
ANY XD

The most beautiful revolver I've personally ever seen was a 2" (or so. . . don't know exactly) Colt Diamondback. The blueing was so rich and deep you could look at it for hours. . .

I recently saw one of those older Hi-Powers with the really glossy blueing. It was in incredible shape and I'd say it's a half-step away from perfection.

Hmmm. . . Glock 17 and Ruger GP-100 both have great personalities and therefore neither has anything to be ashamed of ;) .

Best-looking:
I can't name just one, but there are some features that make some pistols appeal to me:

On the one hand, I like pistols that have that blocky, cold, form-follows-function look, like some evil predatory insect that's going to eat your face if you don't clean it right. Glocks (I like the itty-bitty ones, like the 26 and 30), XD's, H&K USPs, Baby Eagles, etc.

On the other hand, pistols with a little more personality and feel to them, wooden grips, curved surfaces, the occasional dose of Pimp-Shine:
CZ's, H&K P7's, 1911s, Berretas (Mmm, delicious), full-underlug revolvers (without the underlug, I think revolver barrels look... naked, or somesuch. Call Freud!), SIGs (Like sweet, delicious, 800 dollar pie), etc.

Ugliest:
I'd have to stay "old-school" revolvers, the kind that look like the Colt SAA and stuff. Revolvers with "naked" barrels, and the like (the kind that look like Ruger 'hawk revolvers, essentially).

Best looking autoloader to me: CZ-75B

Best looking revolver: Colt Python

Worst looking auto: Any DAO with crudely covered holes where the safety levers were stripped off.

Worst looking anything: Pick any Webley, but the Webley Fosbery gets my fugly award:

Brian, on that second picture with the flamebroiled revolvers, is that beautimous or ugliful?

It's interesting but it is one's idea of what makes something
aesthetic, and what would constitute an eyesore.
There is obviously a great deal of agreement in what we find as ugly
or beautiful. Our agreements on proportion, form, contrast,
lines, finish and color play a big role in a models appeal or lack thereof. And with mechanical things such as guns and motorcycles, part of the attraction is in the "mechanicalness" of the device or it's function.

That a gun can be considered sexy is a very interesting concept,
albeit one which has largely been developed through Madison Avenue
and Hollywood.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Personally I thought that Webley Fosbery picture earlier was quite cool looking. Certainly a different style, but so far I like it better than all of the other revolver pictures in this thread (sorry! :uhoh: I'm an autoloader fan myself, and like the mechanical/functional look.)

Earlier someone mentioned Sigs on their ugly list, which I also disagree with. I like the looks of a Sig P226 better than a Beretta 92fs, and a USP better than both.

As for me? I'm not sure, but candidates in the "Best" catagory would be:
Broomhandle Mauser
USP fullsize
Walther P99
Colt 1911
CZ 97b

Ugly:
Everything below $100.
Any Glocks, particularly longslides.
Cheap revolvers.
Any Dreyse Autoloader. (I like them, but I have to admit it)

*Edit* Here, this is actually the ugliest I can think of right now.

best and worst looking

As a Colt collector I'm probably biased, but the classic looks of blued 1911s, Pythons, and b&c single action army's are what I find most attractive. The least -ugly, even- is a recent arrival, the Beretta Neos. I don't care how well-made, reliable, accurate, etc. they might be, they just have no aesthetic appeal.

Just off the top of my head.

Best looking revolvers:

Colt SAA and the like.

Colt 1851 BP revolvers

S&W Schofield

S&W 19

Korth

Worst looking revolvers:

Dan Wesson

Colt Python

Colt Police Positive Special

Best looking autos:

Beretta 92fs

Walther PP blued

Kahr K-9

Worst looking autos:

Rugers

Walther P-5

Springfield XD

Hi-Points

CZ-52

Walther P-38

Nambu

Gyro Jet

Most guns are not really ugly but nothing special to look at either. I think 1911, Hi Powers, CZs, Glocks, S&Ws, SIGs, and H&Ks are good guns but aren't known for their beauty.

Oh Yea's
-Customized Government Models
-FN/Browning Hi-Power
-Beretta 92fs and variants
-Glock (I swear they have this LE/military-ness to them)
-Walther P99(same as above)
-HK USP (same)
-Sig Sauer Classic P-series(Yea baby!)

Oh No's
-Japanese Nambu
