Best money ever spent on a firearm?

Hard to beat my CZ 75. It's well worth what I paid for it & all the accessories/mags/etc I got with it.

Toss-up between my Colt Delta Elite, NIB for $425, and my Colt Mark IV that I turned into a pin gun. NIB, $459.

But I always remember my first handgun rather fondly. NIB Ruger RST-6 $92:D

The Yugo SKS I purchased in early November for $119. It was essentially unissured (maybe previously fired a few times, but everything was absolutely pristine) and besides the initial cosmoline removal, has worked like a champ ever since without a single problem. The best part though: it was my first firearm.

I've since purchased a Ruger 10/22 and am going to get a Yugo 24/47 or a Mosin Nagant shortly after the holidays. I think it's safe to say I have a good start on becoming a gun nut.

CMP ready Colt AR

I've had more fun, met the best folks, and learned the most shooting Highpower Rifle with a Colt AR worked up to CMP competitive standards. Jewel trigger, floated Douglas Barrel and weight in the cleaning kit hole. If I had to go with one rifle, it would be the one I shoot 5000 times a year.

The best money I ever spent on a firearm bought me a 6" S&W 686. Don't recall how much I spent, and it doesn't matter - it was worth any price. It was my first firearm.

Grownin' up the offspring of a German research physicist, we weren't exactly the outdoorsy family. I started hiking the AT solo as a teenager, and after a couple of experiences I'd rather not repeat I decided that I really should be armed. So I read the trade rags (this was the zenith of the era of the duty revolver wars), decided on a 357, went to Old Town Armory in Alexandria, VA and picked out the then-just-introduced 686.

With that purchase, I learned to take 'em apart and smooth 'em out. I learned to handload ammo, and I learned what worked and what didn't work for carry use. I sold it years ago to fund some other firearms, but since it got me started and taught me well, it was probably the best money I ever spent.

My best buy is easy, but hard to defend from the Taurus "haters" It's a 20 year old Taurus model 66 .357 magnum with a 6" barrel. I think I paid about 200 bucks for it. It was capable of putting one ragged hole targets at 15' then, and it just gave me a cloverleaf in a target dot today. And this after God knows how many rounds I put through it. During year 19 the crane screw came loose. A little locktite and no problems since then. Any gun that is used as heavily as I use mine for as long as I have used mine and still shoots the same great groups has got to be a winner.:D

My new Savage Model 12BVSS 223 cal – with AccuTrigger

Just got back from the range and simply love this setup.

Total cost was $925 for rifle, scope, rings/mount, shipping, FFL service.

Love the accu-trigger. Weapon is heavy enough to allow me to keep my eye on the target during recoil.

I like my 30-06 BAR for most big game hunting. But this new varmint rifle is great.

See details at this thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=252734

Ruger Mk II with 2 clips for $110, or my Mossberg 500 Persauder for $200 (only a handful of shells through it). A pair of 10/22's for $200 Last year. (Guy needed money, and I hate to benefit from others misfortune..... but I will:evil: )

Hmmm... that is tough. I'd have to say either of the very used police trades I bought - Rem 870 for $119 or the GP100 DA only for $179. I use both of them a lot and they are both really solid performers...which kind of suprised me at first.

Best guns for the money? Any of my CZs.

Best money I ever spent on a firearm? Paying West Texas Ordinance $1250 to build me an M14. New Armscorp receiver (that says "M14", not "M1A" so that's what the rifle is :D) and Wilson barrel, but everything else is USGI (happens to be Winchester). A simply beautiful piece of machinery.

Sort of an oddity here. My Remington 31 pump 12ga I bought for $100 last summer. I love shooting it whenever I get the chance. It's in great condition and I saw a rusted up one in Cabelas for over $300 :D ...I'm never getting rid of this gun.

The $300.00 I expended on a mint condition, 6", Colt Python (knew the guy I bought it from, so knew it wasn't "hot."). Smiled for all 466 miles on my trip back to Washington State. Yessss!!!!!!!

Top 3

1)Mak-90=$125 It is a great value for the money.

2)Steyr Scout=$800 Best all around rifle I've ever owned.

3)Bushy A2=$500 First AR I ever owned, it started an obsession.

I bought a Sears-Roebuck 12 ga 3" magnum pump (Same gun as a Mossburg 500) back in the mid 70's or so. Gun had been fired twice, and bought back to Sears because the guy didn't like the way the open choke slug barrel carried buckshot. The 28" mod barrel was unfired. Paid $99.00 for it. More than a few whitetails have fallen in front of that gun. (Using the Mod Choke barrel. I've never shot the slug barrel to this day.)

A few years ago, my wife wanted a gun of her own. We stopped by the gun store, and I told her to pick out what she wanted. She spotted a Ruger 50th anniversary Single Six, like new for $329.00. That was the gun that sparked her real interest in shooting. Now she's enjoys shooting as much as I do.

Alright, NO laughing, please

Probably best for me was my 9mm Hi-Point carbine ($165, new, OTD). Just plain fun gun to shoot, utterly reliable (5000+ rounds so far) and shoots any kinda ammo reliably.

Honerable mention:

SKS-M w/ synthetic "Dragunov" stock, Scope mounted and 4x30 plus 3x40 round magazines. Another one that's been utterly rlieable for 5000+ rounds. paid $325.

Unisssued Yugo SKS--on sale at Dunham's for $129

Marlin Model 60- free, given to me by a friend before he passed away. Stupid accurate (I replaced scope with a better one. And also ridiculously reliable (another 5000+ round gun).

A while back I picked up a S&W Model 48 with the extra cylinder, a mounted scope and a finely tuned trigger at the San Francisco gun show for about $250. I feel happy about it.

Everything I've bought from the CMP; so far, that's two M1 Garands and one 1903 Springfield. Soon, it'll include an M1 Carbine (or two).

#1 - Sig P239 .40s&w two tone with nites, .357sig barrel, 3 mags, nib Hogue combat grips, box and papers for $595.00 :D Looks like maybe 300-400 rounds been through it. Carry it almost daily.

#2 - CZ75 about mid 80's vintage with box, papers - including target and two 15 round mags for $300.00. Hardly any wear. Awesome shooter!

Huggles the Precious

Webley Mark VI with .45acp cut. $395+20S&H+$25FFL=$440
I really like this gun, I've never really handled a large wheel gun and had no interest ing them but just seeing a picture of that one made me nuts to buy it. It's so easy to shoot and much more comfortable on my hands than my 1911.

I got it from an advertiser on Guns America before GA 'falled down and can't get up'...:(

My Taurus guns

I have not spent a lot on handguns yet, but I do have a Taurus in 9mm and 45acp, both MilPro models. I was kinda disappointed with myself that I did not buy a more expensive gun to begin with. However, these two pistols have out performed everything else I've witnessed thus far in the hand gun arena except maybe a Springfield XD I saw gobble anything at the range.

I've seen Kimbers, 2 Sigs and a Kahr all hiccup using UMC ball. Some hiccups came at 50 rounds, some in the first few. These pistols were not mine so I cannot speak for their cleanlieness and treatment, bu they all looked very well kept and brand new. I have to say I'm just tickled that these little Taurus guns perform so well. I'm sold on them.

Now to find a S&W 1076, because my Witness 10mm is way to discriminating on what it likes and I hear the Smith's eat like the cookie monster, just like my Taurus guns do.

In the rifles, my Rugers in 223 and 300WSM have both been tack drivers that I would really like to put on a sled and fire a few rounds down range just to see how tight of a group they can produce. Both of them have shot subMOA groups from sandbags with their 7lb-ish triggers with factory ammo. I just love em. Now, if I could shoot at coyotes on the move with that precision, I might have a pelt or two, but until then, I'll keep practicing.
