I've used Wilson's for quite a while now, and haven't had any problems with 'em, even with 10 rounders. Thought about Chip McCormick's too...I remember there being some discussion on this a while back, and there was some other company that wasn't a big a name, but supposedly was better than the above mentioned. I searched to no avail, and can't remember. Shoulda wrote it down.

Some good companies for 1911 mags are much appreciated; maybe your experience with them. 7rd stock mags are okay, but I prefer the upper quality 8 and 10 round mags. Thanks.

I've been a loyal fan of the Wilson 47 line for years, but I'm about to try Cobramags from Tripp Research. I have read many reviews where the quality and function of the magazine is superb, and it is made by Tripp Research who have been known for their excellent product and service for many years.

I've also had good luck with Metalform magazines, although I can't seem to find them readily in my local area. Either Wilson or Metalform have my allegiance, and I hope to add Tripp Research, too.

I've never had a prob with colt factory mags that was not my fualt.

Check out the various forums for info on Checkmate mags. Tuner had recomended them and they supply mags to Colt as OE mags. They offer both Hybrid feed lips and traditional GI feedlips in stainless or blue. Drilled for bumpers or not. Kinda design your own features that make your gun work the best.

I have used both Chip Mc's 8 round power mags and Kimber tac pro 8 rounders for thousands of rounds with no issues...

Chip McCormick

I have one that I've used in Colts, Norinco's, and Springers with exc results. Doesn't have sharp edges to hurt my sensitive fingers. Should note however that
these are backyard range shooting where seldom do I put more than 5 rounds at a time in. Theres lots of
good mags on the market....follow Tuner1911 advise and you won't go wrong. Lots of forgeries/poor quality too, so stick with brand names mentioned in above replies.

There are others, I'm sure, but here are the ones I've personally used with no problems.
Mec-Gar
Colt
MetalForm
Chip McCormick

The Wilsons and Kimber Tac-Pro have a great reputation, but I've not personally used them.

Tripp

I have a number of the Cobra mags and really like them. Well made, function is perfect and the price is right...

I love my chip mccormicks mags on my 1911. heard that they're bad on aluminum 1911's though. in that case wilson's for aluminum 1911.
