Big and heavy or slow and fast

In general my preference is to have a softish, med to heavy for caliber bullet leaving at 2800-3000fps.
So.....in the 08 class of rounds .24-.28.cal bullets give me about what i want.

I like 100gr+ bullets for game over 50-60lbs, so .24s are about as small as I prefer to go. Tho ive never had an issue using .22s
I also really prefer 160 class bullets in .28, but usually use 120-150s in my 7-08. Its really already getting to the point where I want a larger case.

These are just personal preferences based on my experiences, so as always take 'em with a grain of salt.

I could get 2450 from 147s, and 2200ish from 170s using h110 in my 16" barrel..... if i remember correctly. I have numbers posted in a thread from a while back ill go look.

Sounds about right to me.

A 147gr controlled expanding round for those velocities would be sweet.

Just my two cents on the topic.
I have been a member of both schools when it comes to speed or weight in a hunting cartridge. My personal choice for deer hunting in 35 cal is the 358 Winchester ( the 200gr Power Point does a marvelous job for factory fodder). In 30 cal I like my 30-338 wildcat.
