I am considering buy a single shot revolver with bird's head grips because I really like the look. The caliber will be 357 in a 3" or 4" barrel. My only concern are the grips. Can anyone here let me know if the grips are comfortable enough for big hands? I'm 5'10 280lbs. My 2nd choice is a S&W 686 in 3" barrel, I already own one with a 6" barrel

I have a Ruger Birds head in 45 colt and love it.

I bought a Uberti 1873 with a 4.75 barrel and loved shooting it, but wanted a smaller one and got bit by the birdshead look.

I liked the Idea of the Ruger because it had the transfer bar and it is the older model so it can handle heavier loads. So I bought it.

I then bought the El Paso Holster for it.

Since then I have been handling all the others. and I would reccomend the Uberti, Cimerron... Even though they do not have the transfer bar. They do feel a lot better. I shoot mine at the range so loading six is not a problem.

Heritage Arms makes one with the transfer bar.

If you dont buy a Birds Head you will sit around regretting it, no real good reason, but you do.

I didnt add, I dont see the need for the heavier frame Ruger, I will never shoot more than standard loads through it. Also the Old Vaquero was a bigger fram, and the feel of the normal size frame is better. Thats why I say buy one of the others.

On gunbroker.com search Birdshead, Birds Head and Bird head to see them. They should do a better job at finding what you are searching for.

OP did you mean single shot or single action???

OOPS, yes I meant single action. There's a gunshow tomorrow here in San Antonio, will go check it out. Thanks for the information guys. Especially the El Paso holster.
