Been looking at Birds head Rugers and saw a Beretta in a magazine recently. Can anyone give me general impressions of Birds Head grips vs. regular grips?

Thanks

I bought a Birds Head Vaquero almost 2 years ago, and I like it a lot. The grip handles recoil in my opinion better that the regular Vaquero/Blackhawk grip. Now, the Bisley grip is a step above the Birds Head grip. If you are just shooting cowboy loads I would pick the grip that feels better in your hand.

Try them then decide for yourself. I know many people that swear by the Birds Head grips. I don't like them but it may be that I have held the standard grips for too many years.

Smoke

I got a ruger sheriff's model .45 colt birdshead.
With 300 grain lead bullets at 800-900 FPS it flips up in your hand, the recoil is kinda fun.
With those bullets it's a smoker, too.
People wonder what I'm shooting, and why they can't see their targets. :D
The gun is an absolute ball to shoot, but it did need some work.
The cylinder throats needed to be reamed, and the sights were way off, but I sent it to ruger, and they said that the sights were fine for them.
I had to pay a smith to clock the barrel, and ream the throats, while it was there, I had a free spin installed, and an acton job.
Everyone that handles the piece now has come away impressed.
I'll keep it, I think. :p

Thanks for the input. I like the way they feel but have never actually shot one. I have never held a Bisley but have a friend with one and he loves it. I would go shooting with him but he lives 2500 miles away now.

Birds Head vs. Bisley!!

The Bisley IMHO gives a far better grip although the Birds Head is not all that bad. But, for sheer sexy lookingness the Birds Head can't be beat. Good shooting;)
