Bizarre issue with LCP

That makes me wonder if you are grounding out when you put the gun down after removing it from your pocket and releasing the static build up. I just can't think of what would cause it with the gun itself.

That is a weird one.

That doesn't make sense. Touching the gun wouldn't in and of itself provide a path to ground. I'm leaning towards the Cat's as the source of generating electricity, and just a coincidence that the gun is there.

I don't mean grounding by touching the gun. I mean gun to tabletop or hand to table top when putting it down. Some incidental contact of another conductive surface. Something like that. Just touching the gun wouldn't do it.

But back to the topic, I carry a LCP and pet animals all the time without a shock. I really can't see how having some metal in your pocket would create static electricity.

I'm agreeing with you on this. I just don't see how having a certain gun in the pocket would create a charge. I also think it's coincidence.

Gun in pocket, pet cat, static. Take gun out, pet cat, no static. Put gun back on, pet cat, static. Doesn't seem like a coincidence.

If it was a grounding issue, then it wouldn't "unground" me by putting the gun back in my pocket.

I'll need about a hundred cycles to be convinced.

Maybe it's because it's a Ruger LCP. Try carrying a Kahr P380. :D

Nope! All my future compact or smaller handguns will be 9mm.

OK........this isn't a caliber thread, pet the cat with a .45 in you pocket. Just make sure that it isn't a Ruger. (Good a guess about the static electricity as any)

Like I said already, I've done it with a M&P 9C pocket carried, no problem.

Stop touching the cat Skribs! ;) We don't know the answer! :banghead:

Just kidding of course. Hey I know, I have cat's! Send your gun to me and I'll test it here!
