Blackwell sounds like a winner

I don't live in OHIO but I am going to send him and Steele in MD some money. I sent money to defeat Dashle just a small amount 25.00 to have a paid horse in the race. It made it more exciting that way. I really like both these guys. And from what I read they both may win!!!!!!!!
 
Ken Blackwell

Seems to be what Taft said he was before he got elected. I have high hopes. I live in Ohio right now, so there's a real interest for me in this.
 
From what I have seen, Ken Blackwell is a very stand-up straightforward guy. Polar opposite of the Guv's Palace current occupant, Booby Daft.

My next vote for Guv Booby would be 5th alternate 3rd shift sewer worker...in Baghdad.

What's disturbing is that some megachurches were campaigning for him, which is patently illegal. If the rule of law is followed, they'll lose their tax-exempt status. I don't know if it was from his office, or on their own, but either way, the bad PR is hurting. I just haven't yet heard him publically denounce those churches for violating the division of church and state, which is VERY important to me.

And that complaint was brought to the IRS by small-church pastors, not by secular groups.
 
He is a little too churchy for my tastes, but I like that he is black, socially conservative and most importantly fiscally conservative. That has been lacking a lot these past few years.
 
Ken Blackwell, will be getting my vote but I will vote for a Democrat before I will vote for Dewine.

I grew up in Cincinnati, and have watched Ken Blackwell rise from local races to state-wide races. He's a strong political figure, and in many ways is responsible for Bush being in the white House this time around. the Governor's mansion in Bexley will just be a pause before he heads to a national race.

Anyone know where he stands on RKBA?

Concealed carry permit holders should have a right to privacy and not be treated like criminals. Statistics show that concealed carry permit holders are only a threat to criminals.

Why should a person's ethnicity be relevant? I thought we were susposed to be colorblind. :rolleyes:

I like Ken Blackwell because of his beliefs, integrity, and character. His ethnicity has nothing to do with anything.

He is probably the most pro-RKBA person to win a state wide election in Ohio in my lifetime. His main opponant in the primary, Jim Petro, is not an anti, but is not a proponant either (he likes many pesky restrictions).

He did not cause problems with Ohio's 2004 election. There would have been whiners no matter what. He acted competently and calmly to make sure that evry legitimate vote was counted properly. Those who thought illegitimate votes should be counted whined, as expected.

He will not imprison homosexuals nor ban abortion.:rolleyes:

Cite? I've personally worked with Petro's office on concealed carry matters, and found them to be very supportive (I dealt with assistant AG Jim Fulkerson, but he said that Petro was very supportive). I have several people who still at least pretend to listen to my opinions, so I'd like to give an informed thought.


Also, what do the Democratic candidates look like? Anybody better, or less-bad, than the others?

i fail to see how thats a bad thing.... ya want a supporter of abortion and gay weddings, make sure you punch the box labled "Democrat" next go 'round
 
Well,

He seems to be a principled guy. Nowadays you don't see too many Reagan Republicans true to form. If the conservative political philosophy is to be maintained an infusion of new blood not tainted by current scandals in DC has to come to the forefront.
 
Those small churches complaining are liberal black churches. The IRS thing will go no where. Anytime a Democrat goes to a black church to give a political speech NOTHING is done. The LBJ law is bogus. He got mad and got a law passed as the churches in TX said some bad things and hurt his feelings. Don't pull the ole separation of chrurch and state crap because this law could easily be argued to be againist Freedom of Speech, and Separation of Church and State. Remember Congress Shall Make NO Law. Well they did. The large black church is supporting this guy.

I'm still making a decision about "abortion", but I included the whole quote for clarity, and bolded the point I was talking about. There's no reason of any kind whatsoever that any government should be deciding who gets married to whom, ever, and it sure as hell doesn't need a constitutional freaking amendment for the sole purpose of pissing gay people off.

See the Ohioan for Concealed Carry forum and website. They show the candidates responses to an OFCC survey. Petro supports the poison pills in the CCW law (plain sight in a vehicle, no restauraunt carry, etc.). That shows very poor judgement and disrespect for us and for liberty, IMHO.

Petro has done a good job with Ohio CCW reciprocity. It was his job to do so. And to drag his heels would have hurt him in his present quest for Governor. I would probably vote for Petro (but maybe not actively support him) if there wasn't such a clearly superior candidate (Blackwell) running.

Easy - He appeals to a broader range of voters. Conservatives of all colors seem to like him, and he will capture more of the non-white vote than some of the other candidates. In this case, being black is probably a +.

He's a little on the religious side for me, but considering his stands on most of the issues, I'd likely vote for him. One of his biggest supporters is the Rev. Rob Parsley of the World Harvest Church, and that disturbs me more than just a little.

I don't want to appear to be a broken record or to put this guy on a pedestal, but I doubt that he will make a state executive order making Baptist or AME or whatever the official state denomination.
 
Blackwell

During the last election as Secretary of State in charge of voting proceedures he took a lot of heat from the Dems. who said voters should be able to go to any polling place to vote because many(Dems.) aren't sure of their polling place address,(sound familiar). He stood firm and nixed that and said the voters can get that info from their Board of Elections. The Dems. wanted to create a voting mess in Ohio like in Florida in 2000 and he didn't let that happen. My oppinion,a stand up guy who goes by the law.
