"also had one gentleman tell me he didn't want the police breaking into his house and taking away his assault weapons! I back away slowly."

Probably afraid that he would conjure up his evil black rifle, say the magic words, and it would self animate and begin "spraying bullets" from it's "10000 round clip"!
And it wouldn't be just any "clip", it would be one of those "magic clips" that changes a .223 to a 105mm, puts an explosive tip on it and increases it's velocity to 100000 x10 fps.

Coming to a home near you: people exercising their constitutional rights.

I wonder what would happen if they replaced the gun with a picture of a muslim or a black man?

Omigod! People who don't want to have their stuff stolen by the government are, like, weird and squinchy and stuff! They're always like "Hey, dude, don't take away my stuff! I've got rights or some junk!" And I'm always, "Omigod, you totally suck!"

Priceless Don!

The pro-gun supporters were carrying signs and banners, and they have a new flag: it is the old "Don't Tread on Me" but with an M-16 on it, and another with an AK-47, which really makes them look crazy, putting a communist weapon on a flag that is part of American history. It was also noted by some of the conventioneers, and at least one press member, that of the many signs portraying women carrying assault weapons, all of them were being carried by men, no pro-gun women were present.

That yellow flag rules.

Boy, do I wish stupid hurt. How do you explain to these children that there are Communists, and there are weapons, but there are no Communist weapons because inanimate steel tools are not swayed by the glories of the Marxist Dialectic?
We make fun, but these people really, truly, deeply believe that rifles have souls and minds. How else do you explain that it makes any difference at all that a weapon was once used by Communist nations? How else could a "Communist weapon" like the AK47 be any worse than an M16? It's insane.

Besides, some of our staunchest allies use AK types. Are the Poles evil Communists? (Actually, they're firmly on our side, which probably doesn't score them any points with the MMM crowd.)

I mean, seriously, am I the crazy one here? I thought "Communists" were people. Do these people know the ideological bent of their other inanimate possessions? I mean, if my rifle is a Communist, are their salad forks Libertarians? Republican flashlights? Democratic door knobs?

Don't be so disengenuous. It is amply noticeable that AKs are symbolic of the former Soviet Union and of Third World "liberationists.". It is not that the rifles are "communists," per se, but that they are a potent reminder of it and the wars fought with it during the Cold War.

Here is Mozambique for instance.

I think the AK is a better symbol for a flag of defiance than is the AR, which is indisputably a symbol of governmental authority in this country. By appropriating the image of the ultimate in reviled EBRs, and placing it on a flag that was meant to be seen in defiance of the forces of the Crown, is a better propaganda effort than using an image of the government issue black rifle.

Um... yeah, they were probably all home paying attention to their kids so they won't grow up to be blissninnies. Or probably being economically productive at a job or something.

I liked their driving tips: When passing, do not look at the clearance on the right, you'll just scare yourself. Driving a big vehicle obviously requires special skills, like ignoring your surroundings and hoping the other guy maintains a safe distance (no problem with a pink bus).

Regards.

My favorite is the pictures - obviously there are only 12 people at these gatherings, so they have to push them all into the frame to make it look busier:
