I went with the Marlin XL7 .30-06 over the Howa 1500. Thanks for all of the input you guys gave.
I bought two different brands of ammo to take to the range:
-Remington Core-Lokt Pointed Soft-points 150 gr
-Winchester PowerMax 150 gr
Do you think that will be enough?

I would try as many different brands and bullet weights of ammo that I could, just to see if it prefers any one load over another.

Remington Coreloct PSPs are a time proven performer though.
