BozemanMT and Mrs. Boze, in their quest to shoot all the sporting clays courses in Colorado, made the 180 mile trip to Pueblo on Friday to try out Cottonwood Sporting Clays. They shot a round on Friday, had supper with us Friday night, and then met us at the range this morning.

We had to start at 9:00 am because there was a tourney starting at 10:00, so it made for a rather chilly start. It warmed up quickly, though, and we had shed our coats by the third stage.

None of the scores were worth writing home about, except maybe Sandy's, but suffice to say, Mrs. Boze was first, Brian second, and me third, and only four birds separated us.

Sandy, a novice AND shooting a 28 ga, turned in a very respectable 24. I think the other scores were 47, 46 and 44. Brian shot a 63 on Friday though.

Some pics: First is Brian shooting, second Sandy, and third me (we didn't take any pics of the match winner ;) ).

Couple pictures of the club. Its a pretty place in the summer, but pretty ugly in the winter. This is on the Huerfano river bottom about 25 miles southeast of Pueblo.

First pic is from the clubhouse, second one from the parking lot.

I think we should talk more about Friday's score.
Geez, I shot terrible today, last like 15 birds. But hey, it was fun, lots of it, some interesting birds, and a nice layout.
Thanks Larry.

Whew Doggie!

Hey Sandy No,I won't get into Shotguns..

Listen up, free coaching tip...Get ya and Harley, or Triumph Bike, go from stage to stage with that...guns go in the suicide car...

Ya gotta look good gettin' there...and if causes others to drop birds...what do you care?

Oh yeah, once you have one of those carts for sporting clays, you never go back.
bring extra ammo, all kinds of shot sizes, water, snacks, hold your guns, etc
it's great
well worth the money and you don't worry about having a place to stack your bling bling guns. ;)

Very fun.
nice course, has lots of potential

Gotta a bite...

:D
Back when the earth was flat...
Checking out this new place being built. I mean this was before folks got the baby buggies out of the attic, bought them from garage sales and stuck a golf club bag into one and strapped it down to haul stuff around.

[explains to wives why them golf clubs all-a-loose in the attic]

Harley with a sidecar, yep, me Playing the part of Rocky ( side car) and checking this place out and having to just pull targets for each other...

Now wouldn't Sandy and Larry make a hit with that showing? :D

Yeah, well...

I woulda done much better but stage 9 got me. I mean, easy birds, one crossing from the right, shoot it just before it gets to the tree, the second bird, straight up and hangs there (true pair).

EASY.

I got a 1/10. :banghead:

Sandy misses the first four, runs six. :)

It wasn't easy
but he did still do bad. :p

:D

The more handles a shotgun, the more a shotgun becomes an extension of them.

True: Many Shotgun instructors advise students to "walk around the house and do normal activities".

This assists with becoming one with the shotgun.
Same with the daily repetitions and dry firing I have mentioned so often.

Sandy shot so well today - with a 28 ga mind you shameless nudgebecause she practices these tips shared. She had a really neat guy share stuff with her. :)

Sandy - thank you for allowing your picture to be used as a learning tool and Excellent Example for all shooters!

pssst...you gonna fix fried apple pies ain't cha. Oh goodie...I will be waitin'....

Regards,

Steve

Thanks for the grin this AM, folks. Sounds like a nice day of destroying things loudly.

Sandy, which one of those are you planning on using first?.

To paraphrase Terrible Ted, "Things have to die before they can fry".....
