Brake/Flash-Hider

Hey guys, I'm looking for a brake/flash-hider that will work for x54R rifles.

I've seen this one on AIM:
AK74 type flash hider, .30 cal

Anyone have experience with this one?

I'm looking into building a custom Mosin and am curious about this brake.
I'll probably be building it up along-side my stocks, and possibly using it for stock testing. I'm going to have a new barrel put on, probably machined to the stock barrel specs only bored out so I can use proper .308 pills, and have standard Mosin sights put on it.

Unless it is threaded to the barrel, cross pinned, welded, and duct tape on top of all that.
Mosins tend to launch brakes down range.

It's a thread on brake, might have it welded in place if I like it enough. But I'm also open to suggestions.

The unit in the link is a cheap copy of the AK-74 brake and probably serves better as a muzzle weight.

You may want to consider one made for the M14/M1a type of rifle. A Springfield Armory brake or even flash supressor may be interesting. I have the factory mb on my M1a scout and it does a decent job. Installation may be tricky, but there are some out there that are basic screw on without the castle nut.

I've had bad experiences with the type you mentioned. One went downrange and the other keyholed bullets.

What kind of brakes have you all used to good experience? I don't know about the M1A one, I'm not sure how it'd look... I'll post a design I'm trying to follow in a bit.

This would probably work if I follow the design above, but I want to make sure that I'm not going to send it into orbit when I touch one off. This one looks pretty BA, along with this one.

I think the problem with the 74 style brakes made for the smaller diameter thread patterns is they lack the expansion chamber that makes a true 74 brake so effective. Most of the ones I've seen were little more than a fancy barrel extension with lots of holes drilled in it...

Well if I can find one that has the appropriate expansion chamber in a .308 bore, I might just go with a 74 styled brake.

dprice, those are nice, just not sure how they'd look at the end of the barrel in my designs lol.
