Hey I was just over at Flashlightreviews.com and they now have a review of the $20 Brinkmann Maxfire LX. This is the polymer body flashlight that is basically a copy of the Surefire G2 Nitrolon and can be purchased at Wal-Mart. I don't go to that website a whole lot but I don't think they had this flashlight review up last time I was there.

Anyway..it seems to hold it's own pretty well against the G2 and an added bonus is that a company makes a Luxeon LED drop-in bulb for the G2 that also fits the Maxfire. Anyway...I know we've discussed this flashlight before so I thought I'd share for those of you who bought them from Wal-Mart or for anyone interested. I don't have a Maxfire and I do have a G2. I'll probably get a maxfire at some point for the car though.

I bought one and was very pleased with it. It's a little bigger than the G-2, but I like the click switch on it better then the twist lock on the G-2. Other than that they are roughly comprable.

I was a bit skeptical of all the claims about how great these little lights are but was amazed how much better the beam was compared to a 3 cell Mag-Light.

I liked the previous version so much, I bought one for each vehicle and ended up giving one to my wife's grandfather as well. The new one looks even better as the head's more compact.
