Hi all, I’m fairly new here so just thought I’d say hello and see what you all think of these gismos we use in the UK :)

Due to our gun laws we are not allowed cartridge hand guns for target practice but we are allowed muzzle loaders. :)

So a few gun smiths make for us what we call nitro conversion cylinders like this

Now obviously you do not load a normal cylinder like this, but our nitro cylinders use shotgun primers, Herco powder and semi wad cutters. They take a while to load but have the same ballistics as a 44 special. :)

We have even devised devises like this to aid in loading

That meter out the Herco powder.

What do you think? Be kind, obviously this is the best I can have in the UK.

Here is my collection:

Armi sport Kentucky
Pedersoli Charles Moore, smoothbore flintlock
Pedersoli 1858 with custom made nitro cylinder
ASM engraved limited edition 1858, called The Officer.

I have one of these, nitro revolvers, on the way and can’t wait.

Great video and a shame that your govt requires such modifications. A great tutorial for Americans, if we allow our govt to follow suit!!!! I love my B/p pistols , but I also like being able to load up a box of bullets and shooting my modern pistols. Welcome to the forum and great pic's.

Bob, first off WELCOME !!
That is jist about as cool as anything i've ever seen.
I don't think less of it at all.
Yer burnin powder and slingin lead, ( as we say), and that's all that matters
In fact, i look at it this way....
When a man has only what a man has..he gets very proficient with it ;)

I'll say this too.....yer guns sure talk funny over there.
Sorry Bob, couldn't resist :D

I do have a question tho.
If you fellas aren't permited to own cartridge guns. Then how/where did you get the Taurus to convert ?

“So Bob, can you own a regular BP revolver?”

Yes I have the original bp cylinder for my Pedersoli 1858 and my ASM is Black powder only. :)

We are allowed what we call Long Barrelled Revolvers, but I personally think that they are quite comical.

12 barrel with a wrist brace, or with a 18in barrel

They are a bit unwieldy. :(

Think:

I think a Rossi lever rifle with a 16in barrel makes more sense. :)

Here is my nitro converted 1851.

You can see here where the shotgun primers go

It’s a little fiddly, but once it is loaded it is no different ballistically from the cartridge conversions you lucky few can have. :)

I grew up watching westerns so I am very chuffed to have something so similar to this  :)

My 1858 certainly terns heads when I draw it out of this at a British shooting club. :D  ;)

These are very cool !!

I'd love to have a conversion cylinder like that for my 1858 Remmie.
