British Subjects out shooting-Pic Heavy

Well I got some pics of HMQEII's subjects out enjoying a little freedom. Two of the three are definite converts, the third still isn't sure about carrying all the time, but they all seemed quite addicted. They shot the SU 16 C, Yugo 59/66, AR's in .223 and .50 Beowulf, XD9 Tactical, Witness Elite Match, and a CZ 52. That's about $150 worth of ammo gone, went through my whole range bag in a couple of hours.

















I blurred the faces so the British Thought Police wouldn't issue them a summons on their return.

Do them a favor (or favour) and if the thought police would go that far to hastle your friends engaging in a lawful activity while abroad--get rid of the ears (especially) or dump the pics altogether.

They are pretty close, the police can now issue Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBO) for all sorts of things. A lady got one recently for yelling at a bunch of kids who kept cutting through her yard and tearing it up.

ASBO's were originally introduced as a means to combat youths running around spraying graffitti, and other minor crimes. It includes things like slapping. The UK prefers not to treat these as "crimes" for some reason so they started issuing ASBO's. Now of course the government uses them against all sorts of people for all sorts of non-criminal activities. Running kids out of your yard who are trespassing is just one example. Having a pool party after dark and having a neighbor complain might be another, as is having a "group" of people gathered in a public place.

It's pretty much discretionary from what I can see and is just another step toward a complete totalitarian state, similar to what the Democrats have in mind for us. I certainly don't know the rules but I am sure they have information on the web about them.

It just really bothers me that the British government regulates what they decide is "anti-social behavior." Maybe words have different meanings over there.

As Browningguy said, ASBO's were originally designed to combat yobs but are now issued at the drop of a hat for pretty much anything. Just as the Patriot Act is used against people who have no connection to terrorism whatsoever. No government ever got a power it didn't abuse.

We'll have them in five years, probably connected to hate crimes in some way. (For "hate crime" read "thought crime.")

Couple years ago, I went on a 10 day trip to Alaska to fish. Met a couple Brits on my halibut boat. They bemoaned their gun sit back home. I told them that me, my dad and my brother all 3 took handguns with us on the trip, as AK allows carry w/o a permit. The next day we hooked up and found a place to shoot. They were like kids in a candy store.

Oddly enough, I have a friend over staying with me for 6 weeks from London, has never held a gun, much less fired one.

Yesterday we finally got to head out into the woods and do some shooting in private (he didn't want to have his first shot at a range in front of people )

I took with us:

Mossberg 500A Cruiser 12ga. (pistol grip only model)

Spanish made S&W copy .38 revolver
H&R Sportsman .22LR 9 shot revolver

WASR-10 7.62x39mm (cheap AK clone)
Powder Springs Ingram M10/45 SMG (MAC-10)
AWC .45 suppressor for the MAC

Myself, my wife, and my English buddy spent about 3 hours shooting in the woods yesterday. He is not a fan of the shot guns. The Cruiser hurt his thumb and the 590 hurt his shoulder
He really took a liking to the little P232, saying it felt just right. He also liked my P226 quite a bit.
The AK he seemed to enjoy, but the cheap Tapco folding stock on it he didn't care for.
He liked the full auto MAC, and commented on how odd the suppressor sounded, and how fast it fired.
The revolvers were OK, but he much preferred the little Sig.
His first shot was with the .22LR, he said it had "quite a little thud to it" and said it was very loud. I chucked inside knowing what was to come after that tame, tame little heavy .22 revolver

By the end of the day, he was well into it, badly wanting some proper PG Tips tea (he must settle for our Tetley I'm afraid), and wants to go shooting again at the range

We were shooting down into a small valley, standing on the side of the hill, just shooting them to shoot them, not trying to hit anything, just getting him used to the guns and so on.

As for blurring the faces of those shooters, it isn't necessary (unless they are shy).
I had this picture of me hanging up in a radiology department right here in London. It's a deactivated Vickers and there was a cheeky comment I added about not liking door-to-door salesmen or something similar. The picture was visible in the workplace for at least 2 years. I left the hospital and came back after a year and the picture was gone after a department clean up. Several people have asked me for another one. Well, I put it down to the charm of the Vickers, rather than an appreciation for my finely-honed flab

On a related note, I CANNOT find a way to edit .mov files. I've tried converting to WMV, AVI, MPEG, MPG using various convertors and then several splitters, and I can't manage to edit a .mov file. My next camera will do .avi or something other than .mov files.:banghead:

*edit* - I think converting them to divx with Dr. Divx and then using a splitter will work. The original movie has been replaced with an edited one.

I have lots of videos from that day, but nothing I'd post because of all the stupid chatter and talking that needs edited out.
