I'm looking at a BBM Hunter at Gander. It has a 5.5 inch barrel, blue, fiber optic front site, UDR grips, and rail. Price 379.

All the Hunters I see on the Browning website and around the net are 7.25 inch barrels with wood grips.

Comes with Browning rug case.

Anyone have any idea what Gander has? Some special run?

Anyone have experience with this .22? The ergonomics were nice, only one magazine.

I just let my wife pick out any pistol she wanted. She picked out the one you describe above (nickel plated instead of blue, everything else is the same).

She loves this gun. It feeds and shoots smooth as butter. It is accurate (milk jug 50-yds, 3 of 10 bullseyes from 10-yds).

There are other great 22's out there, but if you go with the BBM you describe, you will not be disappointed.

What's you're looking at is either mislabeled, or a special production for that vendor (which isn't uncommon).

I just looked at the Gander Mountain page. They tell you in a least two places that it is a Gander Mountain exclusive firearm. Lots of big box stores do this. It's a Buckmark model that Browning only distributes through them.

Yes, apparently a special edition. I kind of like it actually.
Think I will go back and look at it again. Price wise it is not a bad deal from similar form factors.
Anyone find buck marks "fussy eaters" versus rugers?

I have the 7.25in Hunter. Haven't had any problems...fun gun. Just be sure to loctite the rail screws. They will back out otherwise. I prefer Federal bulk packs...so not much experience with much else.

I wish mine had a bit shorter barrel, actually. The 7.25 is great at long ranges, but tends to be nose heavy and more 'bouncy' than the short barrels in short range rapid fire. A 4" bbl buckmark is a lot of fun!

I bought one of these from Gander two years ago. Put a Mueller site on it as you see below. Sold it to a friend a while back to help fund a Beretta 87 Target. Good, accurate shooter. Did not like Federal, mainly ate Winchester and CCI.

I vacillated between the 4 1/4 inch barrel with no rail but pre-drilled and the 5.5 inch with the rail, URX grips and fiber optic sight. The 5.5 was only $50 more and I had a $30 coupon from Gander so I did the 5.5.. oh and it came with a groovy travel rug. Looks like wwwprofs former piece.
Unfortunately it only comes with one magazine and GM just happened to have three pricey ones left, I took two.

Bought a big box of CCI.

Grips - Ultragrip RX® ambidextrous
Pro-Target™ adjustable rear sight • TRUGLO®/Marble’s® fiber-optic front sight

Pictures to follow.

This is my first .22 pistol. After a little research and a some handling of two BM and two Rugers, I bought the Buckmark Hunter GM Edition and Two additional mags.

The ergonomics are IMO much better than the Rugers (22/45 Mk III) even with the fine looking cocobolas. With the 5.5 inch barrel the balance is just right. Now if just shoots. ;)
I like the looks of the slab sides better than the bull, but oh well it was a two day impulse buy to use for plinking.

I have a stainless Ruger MK II with 5.5 inch heavy barrel.
A stainless Ruger MK II 22/45 with a 5.5 inch heavy barrel.
A nickel Browning Micro Buck Mark with 4 inch barrel.
A stainless Browning Buck Mark Camper with 5.5 inch heavy barrel and fiber optic sights.
They are ALL darn reliable as far as 22 rimfires go but the Brownings seem to have a slight edge in accuracy department IMHO.
The are fun guns to shoot along with my Ruger single six and Taurus model 94 in .22!

A nickel Browning Micro Buck Mark with 4 inch barrel.

There was a stainless version of the BM with a 4 inch barrel that was in close contention with this one. If it would have had the URX grips I probably would have chosen it. Maybe next time.

I have a Buckmark Camper with the 5.5" blue steel round barrel. I've got both the original top rail and the picatinny rail as well. It's a great .22 pistol, I like it better than I did my last Ruger MkII. Better trigger and better ergos for me.
