Browning Eurobolt II

Does anyone here at THR have this Browning model? How is the trigger pull? The gun IMHO looks great, and has two important features to me- Iron sights and a fixed magazine. Would you guys suggest this or look for something else?

Made in Japan~ called an EUROBOLT II, that name cracks me up.
Don't have the euro, but the A-Bolts here all have excellent triggers IMHO. Excellent make and design of weapon.
Have used ruger #1's, remy 700's, win 70's, a Sako and a Sig; I actually like the A-Bolt best- just have never shot at anything 'cept paper.
You can never go wrong with irons, and the detachable mag is a VERY useless feature for me, after having lost a remy mag while hunting ( $45 for a STW mag) ; I think I've come full circle- I am starting to like plain vanilla functionality better all the time.

Eurobolt II

I have one and absolutely love it. Mine is a 30-06 and it's a dream. Even my gunsmith was impressed with the trigger. It breaks like glass at 3-3/4 lbs and is a dream to shoot. One thing is that the length of pull is a little long at almost 14-1/2 inches. I'm getting it cut down this spring to about 13-3/4. The long stock made scope mount a little difficult. I had to get extended rings to reach without cramping my neck. It shoots right at an inch with factory ammo. Never reloaded, so I'm sure that could be improved. The magazine is the best of all worlds, and it sure is a beauty. Although it's push feed, I can turn it upside-down and load a round with out it losing one. Either the magazine or the bolt holds it at all times, so it's like having a controlled feed, in my opinion. Great rifle, just wish it wasn't produced in Japan. I'll never sell this bad boy... by the way, the best part, the action is basically the same as an A-Bolt without the non-rotating sleeve. Although they're supposed to come equipped with a single set trigger, mine doesn't have it, no worries though. I love the trigger on it. Hope that helps.

Euro Bolt II in .308 w/BOSS

I have one, too, that I really like. I can't seem to find any acknowledgement on the Browning web site or even it's own product tags ("...Available in 270 Win., 30-06 Sprg. and 7mm Rem. Mag.") about my particular .308 model. When I bought it I was told it was pretty rare. Probably a one-time Europe-only offering.

Is yours equipped with the BOSS feature? I just ordered a BOSS-CR to quiet mine down since I don't really need recoil reduction on a .308, but want to keep the ability to fine-tune accuracy.

Just curious if yours was a plain-barrel model, had iron sights, or had the BOSS option. Current Euro Bolts today seem to only be available in Europe, and none offer the BOSS option.

I've also seen some with a hump-backed Monte Carlo comb on the butt-stock. Mine has the straight-backed Monte Carlo comb, meaning it probably dates back to ca. 1994 or so.

Eurobolt II

Sounds like you might have the Eurobolt I. Mine is the Eurobolt II. Mine was manufactured in 2003 and I got it off of gunbroker. I think they are pretty rare on this side of the Atlantic. As you can see from photo, no boss system and it has the rounder Bavarian "humpback" stock as opposed to the flat montecarlo style. Hope that helps.

I have one in 7mag and love it. It's my go-to rifle and it accounted for both of my bull elk. I also have several targets with 5 holes under a dime with handloaded 139gr. Hornady btsps.

Mine is a clean barrel - no boss or iron sights. No humpback stock. Haven't seen one like that before.

Nice to know there are more Eurobolts out there. Mine is definitely a Eurobolt II, even though I can't seem to find much info on such a configuration ever being made (at least in the US).

Thanks for sharing the photos, gents! I just mounted a Zeiss 4.5-14x44 tactical scope on it and will be sighting it in today. I look forward to switching over to my Eurobolt rifle for hunting this year.

I think it was around $600. I have since traded it and the scope for a SOCOM 16.
