Browning Hi-Power: First, probably not last.

As posted previously in this thread, I have been wanting a full size 9mm and debating between a Hi Power and a 92FS.
I went to the range/lgs today to shoot some .22s and fondle the new 92fs they have.
They don't carry new Browning but when I mentioned that I was interested in a hi power they said they had 2 used but they were at the gun show.
The range was way busy so, a 30 minute drive and a little less money than a new Mk111 got me this;

HiPower.jpg

It a 1977 with the Morgan, Utah and Montreal roll marks.

I went back to the range and bought a box of PMC and shot the box.
It is a really nice shooter.
No problems and I shot it way better than my Kahr PM9.

I also own a PM9, which I shoot well, but a Hi Power is a totally different gun. It's all steel, has a longer barrel and is a double stack that has excellent balance. A Kahr is a fine, light, short barreled poly pistol for CC and close encounters. Other than both being handguns they are as different as night and day. However, I love them both for what they are. Once you shoot the HP more you should be able to get tight groups at 25+ yards, something the PM9 struggles to do.

Yes, I shoot the pm9 ok, good groups at 7 yds and I front pocket carry it.
And the reasons you stated were why I wanted a full size 9.

How can you go wrong with either of those iconic legendary models? I chose the 92 (Taurus version) because I shoot it better as it just fits my hand like a glove (I also like the decocker option).

Congrats!

I'm thinking about buying a handgun when I get old enough and I want to know how much a decent Hi-Power is going to cost me. Thank you.

Over the years, I have owned many P35s---can't think of a bad one in the bunch---still have three!
