From what I've read the Browning Buckmark has a better factory trigger than the Ruger Mark Series; but with Volquartsen or other aftermarket parts the Ruger will best it. First, is this true, generally (there are always exceptions)? Second, if so, can the Buckmark be improved to equal the modified Ruger?

I agree that a new Buckmark has a better trigger than a new MK. I have never measures the poundage of a Buckmark, though.

I have done trigger jobs on a pile of MK's. I usually put in a VQ sear, but have polished a few factory ones for guys too cheap to spend 30 bucks. I polish everything else that has metal to metal contact. I put set screws in the trigger to adjust pre and post travel. My triggers end up around 2 lbs.

I do not know what can or can't be done to a Buckmark.

Ive never really looked into modding my buckmarks trigger. Its not as crisp or as short as a bolt gun, but its better than most of the triggers on my other pistols.
Im sure you could install an over travel screw and the linkage could be polished, im not sure take up could be shortend.
Volquartsen makes a target hammer, looks like its special order from Brownells. There is also a flat trigger available that can change some of the way the trigger pull feels.

Ill tear it apart this weekend and see what can be done.

My 20 year old buckmark has the heggis flip. It definitely made the trigger pull lighter. Both the buckmark and the ruger are great guns.

My buckmarks from the 90s and has its spring set up like that, i took it apart this morning, but i dont remember doing it. Pull weight on my guns 2-2.5lbs, with slight creep.
