Nelson133...

I am in the same boat you are.

From what I can gather, for some "decent, budget", AR Optics...then Primary Arms seems to be the place to go to. Only thing is (and because I guess they are extremely popular), when you go to their website, they are out of stock on almost everthing that is a PA offered optics.

They do have and sell other brands. I am going to call them tommorrow and back-order their micro-red dot with removable base and kill flash, coupled with the American Defense co-witness mount with 3X magnifier.

Should be around $250.00 + S/H or so for all.

Have read absosutely nothing but really good things about this company and their CS.

If you want a similar product to that PA micro dot that has a very good reputation and can be found in stock just about anywhere, you might want to look at the Bushnell TRS-25. You can mount it on a UTG riser mount (0.83" for absolute co-witness and 1" for 1/3). Amazon has a pretty good deal on them.

If you don't like busy reticles, then the Vortex Viper PST is a strange recommendation. It has the busiest reticle I have ever seen in a 1-4x. Honestly I don't notice any difference in glass quality between the Vortex and the Burris. The Burrises are just great glass for the money.

But yes, going to a shop and actually looking through different glass is definitely a good idea.

I guess you missed my earlier post. I already posted about one scope. I figured the OP might want to hear about other scopes.

When a guy starts a thread like this, he's always going to get eleventy-zillion different brands/scopes recommended. How does he decide which of the recommended scopes to get?

Edit: A dozen might be suggested, but more people will suggest the better optics. That is the point of this thread. What really slows down a thread is when someone asks, why this thread was started.

I don't expect to get THE answer, what I am looking for is some ideas. It is a matter of personal preference after all. I just need to get some suggestions to narrow the field, and I got that. I appreciate that all of the answers were on topic and I didn't get any of the "what is your life worth" or "just save up the money for the top of the line" stuff.
