I was just musing the idea of making a pistol out of all the bare receivers and kits out there. I saw that Olympic Arms and Bushmasters Carbon 15 and started getting ideas for other pistols.

I was wondering about the legalities of this. I know that there is a law about the weight of a pistol. That was probably the reason you didn't see any stamped steel pistols. Was this part of the AWB?

I know that if I use a regular handguard that is parrallel to the barrel it is not considered an AOW.

What about the area where the buttstock should be, can an end cap work or does it have to permanently changed to not being able to put a stock on? Can I use a sling as a way of steadying the pistol or would that be considered a stock?

Thats all I can think of, but if you guys can think of anythingelse or anywhere I can look up that would be great. If all works out it would be fun to have a krinkov pistol.:D

Sling is not a stock.
Cannot have a stock - does not have to be impossible to mount a stock.
Believe the weight limit was AWB - not sure though.

The only thing you really have to worry about is that the receiver was originally transferred to you as a pistol, not a long gun.

Thanks, Amish_Bill. I forgot to ask, do pistols fall under the 1989 law. Do I have to find the US parts for a pistol?
